About the Author

Diane Bostwick brings a degree in American Studies and a background in journalism to her approach in creating a slice of Jamaican life. The novel is based on her husband's adventures she shared owning a restaurant in Jamaica during the 1970's. It took time for life experiences to put it all in perspective. The author's husband still visits Jamaica. The author stopped in 1990 so she could remember as it was while writing about the era. After living between Jamaica and Palm Beach for twenty years, the author and her husband divide their time between the woods of Unionville, Pennsylvania and the equestrian suburb of Wellington, Florida. They share digs with a couple of horses and golden retrievers.

A book with plenty of details about Jamaica.
It is written in the tradition of "Near a far sea" (Don Noel), "Walk good" (Roland Reimer) and "Banana shout" (Mark Conklin).
Everybody who is really interested in Jamaica will enjoy this book, although it`s sometimes not easy to read.
Some recommondations for people who love Jamaica and can read books that are written in german: the crime novels by Peter Paul Zahl and "Tod in Kingston" (Zingler).
You will like this book.

Format: Hardcover
Having traveled much of the Caribbean and spent a great deal of time in Jamaica, the description of this book intrigued me. What a disappointment!!! The book is self-published and the writing is the most amateur that I have ever attempted to read. It is absolutely dreadful! The book lacks both structure and style, and is filled with ridiculously stilted dialog. Further, the author depicts Jamaican culture in an unrealistic and almost cartoonish fashion. I struggled to get through thirty pages. Normally, I donate my books to the local library, but this one went straight into the recycling bin instead.
