Any woman with a trace of feminism in her bones will find this series exciting, heart-warming, intriguing, delightful - from here on, you can add your own adjectives. I loved watching the original series on TV and am delighted to find that time has not dimmed their appeal. they're as exciting as the week they were filmed. How good to be able to say that about a TV series.

Fantastic writing. People think of Cagney and Lacey as a dramatic cop show and it's so much more then that. There was humor, sometimes entire episodes ( The dinner for Samuals and when they dressed as fruit to catch a fixed game show come to mind- its been decades since these shows were available so forgive my vagueness). They dealt with serious topics way ahead of their time. The acting was superb. However, the friendship between Christine and Mary Beth was honest and complicated. They fought or had polar opposite opinions but there was always respect and a sense that no matter how far their work and/or personal relationship was stretched , there was never a doubt that they would be there for each other. There was humor and bantering that rang true of many close female friendships. I even got my brother and his college buddies into the show. It was unlike any other.

I appreciate Amazon Prime offering my beloved C&L but I wish they were one dvd. Even worse, Now that I've paid to watch online, I can't ever justify getting them on dvd in the future, it's just too costly to pay twice. Too bad once you buy them, you can't download them, after all, you've paid more than the price if you got them on disc. but so far every episode of season 4 has been 5 stars.
