I used half of the recommended amount, and my carpet came out sparklingly clean. Go over the just cleaned carpet while it is still wet with only water in the vac reservoir. You will pick up more dirt and remove any shampoo that is left in the carpet.

Works perfectly with my Hoovers Steamvac. Will continue buying, since it seems to work better than the other brands out.

i developed problems with reaction to artifical perfumes in household products about two years ago... this one works as well as the one with perfume and you dont have that artifical sweeet smell hanging around for days to irritate

This is a good product for anyone who has asthma or allergies that are triggered by chemical odors. There is a very slight smell but it is not like the ones that are loaded with perfumes and added aromas. It dissipates quickly when you add it to the water in the tank. I use it with my Hoover Steam cleaner and it really get out the deep dirt and grime. I have a dog and she can get that doggie smell in the carpets, not urine but just a doggie smell in general. It totally removes it and leaves the house nice and fresh. I leave my windows open when I steam clean just to get out any odor faster, but have also used it in winter too with no problems. I find if the weather is damp, the carpet takes longer to dry, so I avoid steam cleaning on a rainy day to avoid any mildew growth under the carpets.
I have birds and had a bad experience with another brand of cleaner that I won't mention. They are very sensitive to chemicals and if it has any type of carpet protector ( Scotchgaurd type) it can kill them. Same thing with teflon pots and pans. My poor birds got very bad respiratory problems but I got them to a vet in time so they didn't die, but it was touch and go. At the time I didn't know about this issue.
This carpet cleaner doesn't have that in it, or at least it didn't when I ordered it. It has worked out fine for the pets and for me with my allergies and asthma. I do move the birds to another room just to be on the safe side now. So if you have birds be very aware of this issue. The good thing about it is that it leaves no lingering aroma at all, and if you use it as directed you'll be happy with this product.
This is also very hard to find in stores, so I'm very glad Amazon keeps it in stock.

We used this with our Hoover carpet cleaner. It did a great job getting up the stains and lingering cat urine odor in the carpet.

While it claims to be "fragrance-free," there is a slight odor. It's WAY better than anything deliberately perfumed, but I'm very sensitive to odors and chemicals, and it bothered me a little (slight headache). Still, it's the least offensive smelling product we've used. We'll keep using it.

Could have purchased this fragrance free detergent locally, but it is hard to find. Your carpet just gets clean, without a horrible fruit or floral smell that lingers!

Cleans the carpet well, as I would expect, and does NOT give the house the revolting stink of a public toilet at cleaning time, as their regular product and their competitors' products do. It leaves no odor of its own that I can sense. I don't suffer from migraine but this would probably be a good choice for those who do.

its not an amazing product but to keep the rugs clean from time to time it does a good job

I love this detergent. It left NO smell at all and cleaned the carpet wonderfully. However, according to Hoover, they have discontinued this product...............

I have always preferred the fragrance free rug shampoo, as it cleans well and does not overwhelm you with fumes in the house when you are cleaning. Especially in the winter, when you cannot open windows, I feel it is safer to use.
It cleans very well.
