The Hoover WH10200 air purifier is a fantastic product. It is fairly quiet considering the volume of air it moves. The button layout is well designed. It noticeably improves air quality, and filters a lot of dust from the air.

Oh the "high" setting with all options on, it uses about 50 watts.

The only complaint I have is the blue "on" light, which cannot be turned off. It is bright enough that it will light a room with a soft blue glow at night.

After returning another "ionization" air purifier which produced an unpleasant "ozone"..did I say strong!? I mean, I returned the unit within 24 hours. That said, I notice this Hoover with Ionization mode that produced no Ozone. So far 4 days and extremely please with the Hoover with TiO2 Technology. In short cat box odor gone and no ozone. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

We now live in North Central AZ, at 5000 feet and surrounded by the Tonto National Forest. Even in this reasonably remote area and thin air, airborn offenders are common.

PERCEIVED / ACTUAL EFFECTIVENESS:
I was a semi-skeptic regarding the potential for air cleaners / purifiers to offer any real improvement in room air quality, but it did not take long to see that I was way off base.
One hour after placing this unit into use I sensed a difference. At the four hour mark, we both commented on the notable difference in air quality. After running all night long at low setting, we were both convinced that the unit is indeed remarkable. Two days leter, we are still impressed.
The size and appearance of the unit are very appropriate.

ODOR REMOVAL:
There are few offensive odors in this house (no kids, no smokers, no pets, two adults). But, fresh ground coffee bean aroma seemed to find its way to the unit (30 feet away) quickly, and the unit seemed to (pleasantly) deal with it at once. This seems to indicate that despite it's size, it's reach is significant.

DUST:
Possibly too soon to accurately comment, but our initial impression is that naturally ambient dust is much less noticable. When the furnace runs, the smell of the heat of the furnace remains noticable, but the dust is no longer noticable.
I'll follow up if better information can be shared.

EASE OF USE:
This could not be easier. Intuitive and well lit controls are prominent. The timer worked as described. Fan noise at low was barely audible. At high, it was audible but not offensive. Some reviewers commented on the brightness of the light display, which is true. At night is appears bright, but this is not a drawback for us.

HOOVER BRAND
I chose this product because I felt that Hoover markets acceptable products and filter/parts replacement would be easy. Parts are available both from AMAZON and Hoover.
Hoover priced this unit right as well.

RECOMMENDATION:
A good product thus far and certainly a good price. I'll probably get another.

I purchased this air purifier to improve the air quality in my small apartment. I recently moved from a large newer home which had an air cleaner in the central air heating and cooling system. I also miss the opportunity to open windows for cross ventilation. I found living in an apartment with little air circulation due to only radiator type heat and a wall air conditioning unit I lack air movement. I only have 1 direction (NW) which it is possible to open my patio door for fresh air and it exposes me to city noise, and dirt!
I find the unit helpful for reducing dust but not much help for improving air quality or "freshness". Odors such as coffee brewing, cooking fish or broccoli remain. I hoped this unit would do better based on the reviews. It is not as noisy as larger units I have tried (which performed about the same) and I appreciate the air circulation it accomplishes for it's size. It does not blow air out of the entire front but only blows to the right side!? It doesn't have an energy star rating so we'll see if it noticeably increases electricity use. I like the fact that it has a filter indicator and it allows you to choose the features you wish to use. It is fine for moving air and reducing dust in my small space and i will settle for this one considering the price.

Purchased the Hoover air purifier a few day ago for my daughters room. Her allergies have been getting worse over the last year or so. Also been getting sick more often than ever. Made sure her room was clean and dust free as reasonably possible (for a young teenager anyway), but didn't see any real changes untill the air purifier was installed. Now it's only been a few days but her coughing has stopped during the night after the first day. If these results continue I plan on installing these in my other rooms of the house. Will update this review after more time with product.

This is the much more compact WH10200. I experienced a dangerous manufacturing defect which I will get into later, but otherwise this is an OK product. But in my opinion is not as effective as the tower sized Hoover Air Purifier (WH10600). I accidentally ordered this model.

Pros:
Portable, practical for use on desktops/tables.
Makes a noticeable difference in air quality.
Makes a little less noise than the much larger WH10600.
Features a timer.

Cons:
Pricey compared to the value you get with the larger WH10600.
DOES NOT filter odors like a WH10600. No charcoal layer on filter.
Does not have a remote control feature like the WH10600.

I wish someone had made it more obvious that these two purifiers are different. The product pictures are too similar to each other. I didn't even intend or want to buy this model. Such is the reason I'm stressing comparisons between the two.

Despite it's higher noise output, the larger cleaner gets my vote for the better product.

UPDATE- The rubber covering the AC cord has split open where it enters the purifier (before the fat flexy section) the live wires are openly exposed. I'm not going to use it anymore, because its a hazard and I'm convinced in time the two wires will touch and short out if it is twisted.. Time to use the warranty.

I will list the cons first followed by the pros. I purchased my two units through Amazon after researching several units with price tags up to $400 or more. We have a cat, wall to wall carpets we cant afford to replace yet, and high pollen in our area. We decided two or three room units might be better than one expensive model. It's too soon to state if I have relief (I am realistic the carpets will be a problem until they are replaced...) but I will 'try' to come back in May or June and update if my allergies were better after using these or not.

Cons:

*One of my 2 units arrived with a broken UV bulb which contains mercury so I was a little worried. It looked like the package had been re-taped as though returned before but the filters looked clean and the unit worked perfectly. I called Hoover about the bulb and they have kindly sent me a replacement bulb at no further charge or hassle.

*Air blows out the right side of the unit. Why... I don't know but perhaps the vents are not adjusted correctly... not a huge issue for me.. I just angle the unit where I want the air.. but a little annoying.

*Instruction Book Is Silly - Plug In.. Push Power.. Adjust Settings (Almost literally.. lol)

Pros:

*Good customer service for my broken bulb issue. I was only on the phone for a minute before they got to me.. this was a Friday around 11:30am.

*Nice Design - height would be roughly 2 1/2 typical paperback books stacked length wise.

*2/4/8 hr timer

*Yes Turn Off/On Ionizer, UV Light Separately

*No Ozone (So I am told, I don't have a way to measure it but it claims no ozone.)

*White Noise is 'soft' and not very noticeable on low or medium.

*Works as a night light... I have kids and they like a little light. This might be a con for some but hey.. a small sticker or black tape and you can fix that minor detail.

I bought this recently due to allergies. I have dogs and cats in the house and needed to set it up in a bedroom and make an animal free zone. Since I have purchased the air cleaner I've noticed my asthma symptoms have been reduced significantly.

I had a runny nose all the time and had trouble sleeping. Now my sinuses have pretty much cleared up and I am breathing better.

This is a great machine to use in a bedroom with the door closed. Its quiet. Its three speeds so you can turn it down in the evening if you want. I leave mine on medium almost all the time. I never shut it off unless I'm cleaning it. I plan on taking it with me in my motor home this year. Its size is perfect for traveling.

I purchases a replacement filter with it when I bought it. I've had it 2 months and have cleaned the pre-filter about 4 times. Easy as can be. It does help to use a vacuum on the paper filter inside past the pre-filter. I do that to extend the life of my filter.

NO problems with it at all ! The blue light is not annoying. I like it. I use it for a night light in the room. Make sure if you decide to cover it you don't cover the vents on it in the front and back. I personally don't see why the light would be a problem.

It sends out a nice breeze if you want to point it in your direction or point it in a different direction if it bothers you. I normally have a fan of some sort in the bedroom for white noise and/or air circulation and the air cleaner takes care of both.

I also like the on/off choice for the ion feature. This feature DOES NOT produce ozone. Its safe - check the description online. I also like the ability to turn the UV bulb on and off. I normally leave it on in flu season. Its been great.

I plan on getting more Hoover air cleaners. I'm going to get the larger one for the living room area.

I highly recommend it. A great machine for the price.

After discovering mold in my basement and air ducts, I set out to find a short term solution while trying to tackle the larger problem of getting rid of the mold. Went immediately to amazon and based on the good reviews, bought this unit. One thing I found a bit odd when I was reading the overview of this product on Amazon's description, it didn't say anything anywhere about how much square footage this unit covers. The info was even missing from the manufacturer's product manual. Very odd. I use it in a space that's about 20 feet by 40 feet, and it seems to do the trick.

I had been ill for a few months, and after countless rounds of antibiotics and testing, realized the reason I was sick was dirty air. I ordered this overnight and plugged it in immediately when it arrived the next day and felt better within a few hours. It was nice to actually feel the air in the room change so quickly. It blows out cold air, so be warned you may need to turn up your heat on a cold day with this unit on High. It's a nice design, not too intrusive as far as the size of it, and doesn't make too much noise while it's on.

and the main benefit is the ti02 technology, I can look inside and see the UV light on as well, which is nice. i have only had it on for a couple hours so far. best part is its plug and play. i opened up the insides to make sure there was no plastic that needed to be taken off the filter, etc... and none on it, just plug and play when u get it in mail, quite nice.
