5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Cleaning
Used on carpeting that had not been cleaned for 7 years. Carpeting looks like new and was able to remove any and all spots.

1.0 out of 5 stars No noticable difference from regular "Deep Cleansing" detergent, July 17, 2010

This review is from: Hoover Platinum Collection Professional-Strength Carpet-and-Upholstery Detergent, 50 Ounces, AH30030 (Kitchen)
From the other reviews, I expected a lot. I previously used Hoover's "Deep Cleansing" detergent (green bottles).

I didn't see a difference between the results I previously got and now with this "Platinum" and "Professional-Strength" version. I even used this product at double strength on high-traffic areas. The particularly dirty areas needed a second-pass; the spots I missed with a pre-treating spray were still there.

Since the "Deep Cleansing" detergent is available in 128oz bottles for about the same price as this 50oz bottle, I recommend the "Deep Cleansing" detergent.

Note: I used boiling hot water with a "Hoover F5912900 TurboPower 5200 SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge". I followed the tips from the reviews for the SteamVac and was very happy with the deep cleaning results from the SteamVac. I know my one-star review for this detergent is an anomaly from the other reviews, but using the exact same SteamVac and methods, but with different detergent, I saw that this "Professional-Strength" product costs more but did not perform better than the "Deep Cleansing" detergent. I don't think any other reviews point this out (at least not strongly enough -- I mean, twice the amount of cleaning power for the same price is a big deal, at least to me).

I bought this because I wanted to see if it would work better than the deep cleaning solution that is half the price and while they clean about the same - this powered through stains like they were never there.

I have a Hoover F8100(if your considering a carpet cleaner - this one is great),
and what I think that I am going to do, is buy a bottle that I can pour this in and use it as a pre-treatment for stain and high traffic area, and then use the less costly stuff for normal cleaning...

This product is EXCELLENT. My family & I moved into provided housing due to my husbands job, and the carpets weren't cleaned prior to our move in (and hadn't been in the 10 yrs from the home being built). The house is surrounded by dirt/mud..not even our road is paved & the carpets are a speckled cream color. Well, now they are when we moved in they were a light speckled tan. It is AMAZING the difference in the color & the softness of the carpet. The 4 for 3 promo is the best way to go for pricing purposes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, July 9, 2009
This review is from: Hoover Platinum Collection Professional-Strength Carpet-and-Upholstery Detergent, 50 Ounces, AH30030 (Kitchen)
Good stuff but does not go very far. I really can not say that it is any better than the less expensive Hoover Ultra shampoo.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good but needs followup water rinse, November 8, 2010

This review is from: Hoover Platinum Collection Professional-Strength Carpet-and-Upholstery Detergent, 50 Ounces, AH30030 (Kitchen)
Based on others' reviews I purchased this product to use with my Hoover SteamVac. It arrived but did have a small
leak/seep at the cap. Nonetheless, I used it as directed - 5 oz per gallon of hot water - and was very pleased with
the results althought some tough spots needed a second go-over. Realizing my two dogs with doggie door access track
in a lot of dirt, I decided to rinse with hot water and I'm glad I did - the result was soapy water with even more
dirt mixed in. Additionally, my beige loop berber carpet looked and felt even cleaner - little trace of the cleaner
that will attract and hold dirt. Next time I will do things differently 1) first make a 1 to 5 mixture to treat spots
2) use the recommended mixture for dirty, well used areas like entry and hallways 3) use half strength mixture in
areas that are relatively clean 4) rinse everywhere with water and maybe even twice in dirty areas.

I used this Platinum detergent with my Hoover Steam vacHoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge, F5914-900As you can see this detergent, when used with the Steam vac works quite well. My carpet is by no means new, and it had been a few months since I cleaned it, and clearly you see all the dirt being lifted from the rug. I love the vac itself, and I only use select Hoover dtergents with it. I also have used the Platinum Pet stain detergent as well, and I find them to be comparable to each other. I have also used a less expensive Hoover detergent and I've got to admit that in my opinion, there was not a noticeable difference between this more expensive Platinum version and the regular detergent. I will be purchasing the less expensive version the next time I need to restock. If you use the recommended measured amount, the bottle will last quite a while, assuming you don't steam your rugs all the time. I have to admit that I'm of the "some is good, but more is probably better" crowd when it comes to cleaning solutions- laundry too- I always use more than they direct you too. Has adding more detergent to the cleaner helped?- hard to say, but I know I'll continue to do it. So, again, it's good in that it doesn't harm the machine, it's scent is not unpleasant- I also don't find that it really lingers around after, although I would rather it did as I like that initial clean smell you get with any type of cleaner, but alas, they all seem to fade, right? But, next time I'm sticking with a cheaper detergent as I just can't justify the extra money when it seems to get the rug no cleaner than the less expensive versions.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money - buy the Deep Cleansing instead!!, July 4, 2011

This so-called "Professional Strength" solution was a waste of money. I used Hoover's "Deep Cleansing" solution in the past and expected even better results from the "professional" grade. I paid $20.13 for a 50oz bottle of this crap. The Deep Cleansing costs $19.95 for 128oz. Do the math. I'm sticking with the deep cleansing since it does the exact same job. You'll get the same results for 1/2 the price. I'm calling Hoover to complain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Stuff, January 18, 2010
This review is from: Hoover Platinum Collection Professional-Strength Carpet-and-Upholstery Detergent, 50 Ounces, AH30030 (Kitchen)
I bought this in hopes that a stain I had been trying to remove from my livingroom for a year would come out. I had tried many different products and nothing worked on this stain. I don't know what the stain was because it was there when we bought the house. Although, I didn't know because it was under furniture. I also took out some type of red stain in my daughter's bedroom since she has just moved out into an apartment by her college. This stuff works!
