Very light weight and easy to maneuver. It works well on hardwood as well as carpet. Being able to put vacuum away and charge the battery is a major plus. Would recommend to anyone for quick clean ups.

My husband says I'm on a constant search for the perfect suck tool. I've tried dozens of stick vacs and have either returned them or trashed them until now. I love this thing!

We mostly have hard floors and it works like a dream. It has a 2 stage dial for the on/off switch... first click is for hard surfaces, second is for rugs/carpets. It does a nice job on rugs/carpets for a quick cleaning but you'd probably want a powerful plug-in for deep cleaning.

One of the best things is how long the battery lasts probably because it's an 18 volt. I can clean about half of our place (1800 square feet) on one charge. (Keep in mind, that's mostly hard surfaces, not carpeting. All other stick vacs I've had ran through battery power faster when spinning the brush.)

More pros:
- The dirt cup is simple to empty and easy to tell if it needs to be emptied as it's clear
- The filter is a rubber disk that you simply rinse and replace
- It's really lightweight
- It has a battery life indicator light
- The charger pulses when the battery is charged

Get one - you'll love it... it really sucks!

I am a housekeeper for 5 vacation rentals and therefore have used several different brands of vacuum cleaners, upright and canister. They include, Electrolux, Dyson, Kenmore, Bissell, Oreck, Dirt Devil and Hoover. The one with the best suction every time is Hoover. From the older upright Hoovers to the newer Hoovers, hands down they work the best. So I decided to try this Hoover Linx. This little thing is awesome. It is lightweight, rolls smoothly, easy to maneuver because of the slight swivel of the head, has a good size canister which disassembles for easy cleaning, and most important of all, sucks, in the good way. I read the reviews about the battery not lasting, but I have had no problem. I ran it for about a half hour the other day and the battery maintained a full charge. It works great on my hardwood floors and great on my carpets. It picks up everything, from dog hair to small wood chips from my woodstove. I haven't used my bulky, annoying to drag behind me Kenmore canister vacuum since I bought this Linx. If this breaks or dies I will try to fix it or buy another one. I love it!

At first I LOVED this vacuum. Worked great for daily use in between using the main vacuum.
Unfortunately after about 8 months, the rollers stopped working. So we called Hoover and they told us to take to a local place to get fixed. Turns out it wasn't fixable so Hoover replaced the whole bottom part with a new one. Ok, so great! We had a new one!
... A few months later it breaks again! Same problem. Warranty period is up by then so I had my husband try to fix it. He finds the problem (something about pitting holes in the electrical contact), and it is temporarily fixed by rotating some pins. But that was only temporary because the problem was going to continue to occur every time it's used until the "fix" is broken again.
Anyway, to sum up, now we have some aluminum foil rigged up vacuum that is only working because my husband is handy. I would never have been able to fix it on my own and we shouldn't have to worry about doing so!
Next time I will definitely spend the extra money and go for a Dyson.

The BEST. Lightweight, cordless, and yet does a GREAT job on both my low pile carpet and my tile floors. This has become the vacuum I use every day and now I only pull out my big vacuum about once a week (if that)! I have 3 German Shepherds that have free reign of the inside and outside (dog doors - bless them) so I know what I am talking about when it comes to dirt, sand, mud, grass, etc. Do not be fooled. This little Hoover is a trooper. The cup is small and I have to empty it after every room with my crew of dogs, but that is so simple and easy that I just dump it in the basket as I leave one room and move on to the next. I purchased an extra battery so that I just switch the battery out as needed and always have one ready to go. I vacuum EVERYTHING with this little guy - floors, bedspreads (Oh NO - the dogs got on the bed!!!), tile, the back porch, the garage - EVERYTHING! It is so light and easy, but a hard worker. I love mine. It is my number one tool.

WE ARE CLEAN FREAKS WITH THAT SAID.....THIS IS THE BEST CORDLESS VACUUM EVER! IT HAS A BEATER BAR THAT WILL CLEAN YOUR CARPET AND DOG HAIR TOO AND FLOORS ARE A PIECE OF CAKE. IT WILL FIT RIGHT UNDER YOUR LOWER KITCHEN CABINETS TO GET ALL THOSE FOOD PARTICLES OTHER VACUUMS CANNOT REACH. IT HAS A SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM FLOORS TO CARPET AND WORKS GREAT ON THOSE DARN BATHROOM CARPETS THAT OTHER VACS LIKE TO SUCK UP AND JAM IN THE BEATER BAR...ITS A LITTLE WORK HORSE. WE NEVER PUT IT AWAY THAT'S HOW MUCH WE USE IT. WE HAVE A GERMAN SHEPHERD AND IF ANYONE KNOWS GERMAN SHEPHERD'S THEY SHED BIG TIME, AFTER OWNING IT ALMOST 5 YEARS I CAN SAY WE GOT OUR MONEYS WORTH. WE DO BRING OUT THE BIG GUNS FOR DEEP CLEANING THE DYSON. THE HOOVER LINX IS A REALLY GREAT LIGHTWEIGHT CORDLESS VAC YOU'LL LOVE. ITS STILL WORKING...BUT WE THOUGHT WE WOULD RETIRE IT FOR LATER NEEDED PART AND BUY A NEW ONE. WE ARE CUSTOMERS AND NOT AFFILATED WITH HOOVER OR ANY COMPANY.

I'm writing this on 7/21/15 this is the current deal of the day. I've had this vac for over three years - can't remember how much longer than that. I was in a wheelchair at the time and it was wonderful. I've been out of the wheelchair for almost two years and this is still wonderful. The convenience of no cord cannot be overstated. This works on both floors and carpet and I admit I've used it on furniture also even though it's not designed for that. My battery no longer fully charges, it only works about 15 minutes before needing charging again, but after reading the info I see it was most likely due to the fact I left it in the charger. I've had a roomba which I loved and would one day like to get again but it's cost is too much for me at this time, still it is not as versatile as the Linx. I also have the Dyson stick which is more versatile than this, but for straight floors and carpet this is my favorite.

I bought this to replace my Swiffer floor vac because the battery was so weak. This is amazing! It sucks up everything, even socks! I use it on the floor and the carpets -- it's great on the stairs too. It is powerful all the way until the battery dies (which is about 15-20 minutes). Since I got this I haven't even used my heavy Dyson. I would recommend getting a second battery. It is VERY easy to dump the container and unlike the Dyson you can easily get to every part to clean it out. With 4 ACTIVE and messy children, I needed an exceptional vacuum that makes cleaning up easier. It even fits under my couch. I have to vacuum the whole downstairs daily and it picks up leaves, grass, cat litter, crumbs, paper, etc. Because it's so powerful, I can vacuum very fast and pick everything up. This is what I have been waiting for and now, after several months, I am just as happy as I was on the first day.

Other reviews here have covered it pretty well, but I will say that. for me, this is a great product and enables even lazy me to keep things fairly clean "in between" the full bore vacuuming with the cord vacs. For me, the snagging cords and such are enough trouble to discourage me, but not now. I can grab one of these and tackle the quick clean-up job in a jiffy.

I can use this to vacuum the kitchen and dining room (and occasionally the family room) areas when they need a quick clean up. Nowhere near as good as a full powered vac, but good enough to be useful and better than you might expect for a battery powered unit. I use mine daily and have had no problems.

The stick vac is fairly light and easy to use. It is very easy to empty the canister (don't forget to clean the filter and wash it occasionally. You'll notice a loss of suction if you do not). The battery is lasting me about 12-15 minutes so far. I find I can get more done in that time than I thought. I have two batteries and can easily swap out as needed. The batteries charge nicely in the supplied charger in just a few hours. (The indicator lights for remaining charge rapidly drop to the lowest reading on my stick vac, but I'm still getting the full time specified. Probably a cheap voltage based circuit.)

The batteries are very easy to remove and insert, the charger unit is nicely designed and easy to use. About the easiest battery charger and battery swap setup I've ever used on any tool. This is important as this would quickly get old if this were not the case. As it is, it's great, you can swap batteries in 2 seconds.

Bottom line -- things are looking a lot cleaner around here since I got this.

I bought mine over a year ago and have had no problems (though I see others have not been so lucky). Have used this almost daily now since purchase and find it incredibly convenient and easy to use. This remains the best battery powered stick vac I have seen.

I liked it so much, I bought a second one. It's the best cordless vac made, as far as I know, and mine has been incredibly useful. Every time I drag out the corded vacs for cleaning now, it feels weird to have to hassle with the cord. But you need that extra power for things like carpets. I have not had any problems and battery on both still going strong.

Works great on hard floors, not so great on carpet, but OK for throw rugs. Easy storage in a closet. Handy to grab and clean on the fly. I love 'em.

2015-07-21 Update: I have purchased 6 of these over last four years (for use in different locations). Only one has failed (roller stopped working, but otherwise still fine.) Several are used every day. Although there is some variance in noise level and cleaning, overall they are all good and I still consider this an excellent choice. Just bought another today (deal of the day). I should also mention that all of the batteries are still fine as well.

Battery performs poorly, only last about 10 minutes, what's worse, the brush feather stopped working after a few months. Should have bought a Dyson instead.
