1.0 out of 5 stars "HOOVER CRIPS?" should be "HOOVER TRASH"
I found this book to be one of the worse books I have ever read about CRIPS history. Being an ex E/S 5-TRAY Avalon Gangster Crip (NOW E/S AVALON GANGSTA CRIPS - SOUTH PARK) during the early 1970's that used to hang with many W/S back in the day, and also having lived on 93rd Off Hoover, I knew many of the old 9-deuce and 9-4 Hoovers when they were in the young stage when...

I found this book to be one of the worse books I have ever read about CRIPS history. Being an ex E/S 5-TRAY Avalon Gangster Crip (NOW E/S AVALON GANGSTA CRIPS - SOUTH PARK) during the early 1970's that used to hang with many W/S back in the day, and also having lived on 93rd Off Hoover, I knew many of the old 9-deuce and 9-4 Hoovers when they were in the young stage when I used to go to Bret Harte Jr. High, and Locke High School in Los Angeles, Cali. The commentary was quite boring and is not on par with books like "BLUE RAGE, BLACK REDEMPTION (Stan "Tookie" Williams) which I found to hold alot of truths since I knew alot of the individuals in the book (since I was around in those days CRIPPIN' and TRU 2 THE BLUE. It is not also on par with Books by Colton "Lil C" Simpson (Inside the CRIPS), and "Monster" Cody Scott (Auobiograpy of a L.A. Gang Member"). The page count in this book is low, and it talks relatively about nothing. I don't understand it's purpose. The Author seems to have gotten a bunch of fabrications about old CRIP history from I would assume, a new generation of modern day would be Gangsters. I also don't understand why the book is called "HOOVER CRIPS", since the HOOVERS or HOOVER CRIMINALS as they call themselves no longer associate themselves as being CRIPS, but call themselves hustlers and sport the Orange colored bandana as opposed to the International BLUE, Purple, Brown, Green, or Black bandana's worn by CRIPS in Cali to show their sub-sets. The violence level might be right on par. But coming up CRIP in the EARLY DAYS (1970's), I got nothing out of this book period but misinformation from what I know about the streets, and was looking to give the book away for free, but didn't have any takers. This book was overpriced ($16 plus) worth of garbage. Actually this is one of the WORSE books I have ever read, I read it in about 4 hours time, and I read an average of about 40 books a month.

I will say the book was very short. It had a few, very few,new revelations about the gang thing. Wish it would have had more info on the Hoovers though.
