This review is from: Hoover Pet Cyclonic Upright Bagless Vacuum, Uh70085 (Kitchen)
I'm posting this review after 2 solid weeks of use every day on a 2300 sqft home. I didn't intend to use it that much that quick, but I really enjoy tools that work and this one definitely does. I have 2 large dogs and had a Eureka on it's last leg - the home would smell like wet dog every time we would vacuum even though it had a brand new bag and HEPA filter installed. I read some reviews on a different model by Hoover, went to the big box store, but they didn't have the model I had done so much research on. I took a shot in the dark and brought this one home with no research just because I liked the idea of the retractable cord. THIS VACUUM IS FANTASTIC. I had previously been researching the Dysons as well and had even used a few before - this vacuum performs every bit as good if not better for way less money. I can't believe how much dog hair, dirt, and dust it sucked up out of the carpet and off the tile, and now the house smells clean and fresh - no more dog smell! The on-board pet brush is fantastic too. I unintentionally gave it a durability test when I accidentally tipped it over just after unpacking it and cringed as the handle slammed into the tile floor - this is how my friend broke his Dyson - Hoover took it like a champ. No damage.
Regarding other reviews I saw one that indicated the brush won't work after 3 uses - mine still does after over a dozen HEAVY uses. I read another that complained about the belt - the belt on mine says Good-Year and it hasn't broken, frayed, or slowed down at all. One review called it a boat anchor and said it's impossible to carry - IT'S 23 POUNDS YOU WEENIE, and it's on WHEELS. That's about what a typical 1 to 2 yr old child weighs. In all fairness, if you have a 2 story and are elderly and/or handicapped in some way then perhaps this vacuum may weigh a bit too much for you. I haven't had to lift it since I took it out of the box, so... Some are commenting that it's messy to empty - there are two ways to empty it: there is a door that swings open at the bottom and drops the dirt out, or you can unlock the top by twisting it, remove the cone, and gently dump the contents into the trash without creating a could of dust... that also keeps the seal on the bottom of the trap door from getting dirty. The retractable cord has been awesome. What you probably wouldn't guess unless I told you or you read the name is that I'm a man and don't typically like to vacuum. My girlfriend is ecstatic that I enjoy vacuuming the house, and has even gone so far as to take pictures of me doing it to prove it. When I wanted a great drill that would last I bought a DeWalt - still have it and love to use it. When I wanted a truck I bought an F-150 - over 200K miles and still rolling. Now I lucked out and have a vacuum that has really improved the cleanliness of the house. If I ever have a problem then I will by all means update this review, but so far I'm impressed.

Worst Vacuum EVER!!!! DO NOT BUY HOOVER!!!!,
By Bill Scott (KY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hoover Pet Cyclonic Upright Bagless Vacuum, Uh70085 (Kitchen)
We bought this vacuum and used about 3 times before the agitator brush quit working. Hoover website does not even list the correct belts for the unit. Can not find the belts anywhere locally. I had to buy the belts that it needed. Replaced the belt and the agitator brush worked for 1 cleaning and quit working again. I called Hoover and they said that they have never heard of this problem before and that I needed to take it to a local Service Center. I called the local service center and they asked me the model number and I was told "You poor Soul." The service center knew all about the problem. He told me the problems that I was having with the unit and that it was a design flaw with the unit, Hoover is aware of the problem and that they are not doing anything about it. So i am stuck with a vacuum that the agitator brush does not spin. Another waste of money on another product that is cheaply made and Hoover doesn't care. Hoover has poor customer support and do not care about the quality of their products. Do Not Waste Your Money!!!!!!!!!

Best Affordable Vacuum,

This vacuum walks circles around my 10-year-old Hoover Windtunnel bagged vacuum. If you have kids and pets, you vacuum daily like I do. My home is small and so is my budget, so this affordable model covers all the bases for me. Emptying the collection bin is a bit messy, but it is worth it to me to never have to purchase bags again. I empty it into a closed grocery bag, and I'm sure I'll get better at this over time. With a lot of cat hair to pick up that has been left behind by my old vacuum, I have had to brush off the filter several times, again, not a big deal to me. The hose is sturdy and long, and the cord rewind feature is a plus. I like the fact that the beater does not run when the vacuum is in the upright position, and has an on-off switch for hard floors. It does make a squeaking noise when stopping and starting, which troubles me a bit. I only gave this product 4 stars for now, but will update after owning for a few more months.

I don't understand....,

.... all the negative reviews on this vacuum. I've had it for 3 months and it's the best vacuum I've ever owned. I almost didn't purchase this model based on the negative comments but we've had good luck with Hoover products in the past and wanted something that would help deal with Pet hair. The suction on this unit is great. The only negative I've found is the length of the hose, but we've learned to live with that. I make sure that I set the dial for the correct carpet height and if I'm vacuuming throw rugs or anything with fringe, I turn the beater bar off. I'd buy this vacuum again with no regrets.

Worst vacuum I've ever used,
By Momma D (Midwest USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hoover Pet Cyclonic Upright Bagless Vacuum, Uh70085 (Kitchen)
The agitator brush stopped working completely within one month of purchasing the vacuum. I contacted Hoover and their only response was "take it to a service center." I've read many reviews of the vacuum on various websites, and it seems to be a VERY common problem with this model.....high pitch squeaking followed by complete failure of the agitator brush within the first few weeks of use. What a waste of money!

Worst Vacuum Ever,

This review is from: Hoover Pet Cyclonic Upright Bagless Vacuum, Uh70085 (Kitchen)
I've had this vacuum for over a year and I absolutely hate it! To empty the canister, you have twist off the cyclonic thing from it and bang it against the garbage can and it makes a huge cloud of dirt - and there is no way to clean the inside of the cyclonic thing - its dirty and gross. Then you have to clean out the canister and the rubber gasket on the bottom of the canister isnt flush anymore, so there is a layer of dirt around the rim you have to clean. Why would they make a vacuum where the bottom of the canister opens????? Its get filled with dirt and leaves dirt all over my house! And I dont mind a heavy vacuum, but I have a ton of stairs in my house and there is no handle to carry it easily. I'm already looking for a different vacuum because I HATE HATE HATE this one! I miss my old Bissell. Never buying a Hoover again, this is the stupid design of a vacuum ever!

Good Vacuum - really helps with pet hair!,

This review is from: Hoover Pet Cyclonic Upright Bagless Vacuum, Uh70085 (Kitchen)
My mother bought me this vacuum for Christmas because I have a cat and was getting ready to move in with my boyfriend who is allergic to cats. This vacuum works great! I vacuum three times a week and use the pet attachment and I never see a cat hair in this place. My boyfriend's allergies have been great! I did notice that if it is too full it will shut down. This is a precautionary measure so as long as you keep it emptied it will run fine! I empty it on the balcony and haven't found it to be particularly messy. It is quite heavy but that would be the only downfall that I see. I hope this review was helpful. I read the reviews here after my mother gave me this vacuum and was quite nervous about it. But as long as you take good care of it, I think you'll be happy with it!

Suction is great but it is heavy and hard to manuver, Emptying filter canister is difficult and messy. Brush won't rotate only in the lowest position after 3 uses. Makes loud squeaking noises. I am returning this item.

Good suction. Retractable cord! Ranked high on Consumer Reports :( heavy, clunky started making high-pitched whine sporadically after 2 weeks of use in our small 950 sq ft NYC apartment not looking forward to changing out the container... It's hard to see what a vacuum will be like unless you go to a brick-n-mortar store to try it out. that's what I wish we had done. UPDATE 18 months later: My wife and I hate this thing. It's too heavy, it OVERHEATS and stops working after three or four minutes, it doesn't clean our carpets very well. It's also a pain in the butt to empty the dust canister. We really regret not sending it back after the first horrible week of using it.

Great Vacuum for the price,
This review is from: Hoover Pet Cyclonic Upright Bagless Vacuum, Uh70085 (Kitchen)
We bought this vacuum about one year ago and it is still doing a great job. We are about to switch out the filter for the first time. We have a 1400 sq. ft. house with one child, a big german shepherd and a huge black lab. All three shed! :) This vacuum does a great job with all floor types. We have both hard wood and carpet and to switch the floor type on the vacuum is a breeze. I highly recommend this vacuum. It's been durable and work horse for us.
