F5810 works good for me.,
By Molly "M.S" (Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hoover F5810 SteamVac Carpet Cleaner (Kitchen)
I was impressed with the way it doesn't oversaturate the carpet (unless you just keep going over the area and pressing the squirt trigger a lot.) The suction is very good and the machine is easy to operate. The water is only as hot as you get out of your faucet however, but this was not a concern for me.
I almost bought a Bissell, similar price, but discovered the Bissell had an odd retriever container--it actually sits inside the clean water container, so this doesn't give much room for the dirty water. I didn't actually try out the Bissell, so I can't really criticize it. I used the Hoover for a very dirty utility room carpet and the only thing I will do different next time is use a Hoover stain remover for some of the ground in dirt stains. All in all, I found this machine to be MUCH better than ones I had rented from a local hardware store in past years (for a different house). The rental machines are extremely heavy, hard to get in and out of my car and leave the carpets soaking wet. This Hoover machine isjust what I hoped for. One thing to be aware of, after you take the machine out of the package, check to see if the cap on the clean water container is already loosened. I was following directions to a "tee" and trying like everything to turn the knob to the left to unscrew it and then discovered it was already loose and ready to be lifted out. I ordered this machine from Amazon also another item previously, and was very happy with Amazon's fast delivery time on both items.

It seems to work just fine. I am going to be looking at it's staying power. I have worn out several carpet cleaners over the years. It's simple to operate and does a good job. It's a little heavy, which every carpet cleaner I've ever owned is, so I guess they must have to have some weight to work properly.

Used it for the first time and it did a great job on the carpets. Carpets dried fast.

Disappointed,
This review is from: Hoover F5810 SteamVac Carpet Cleaner (Kitchen)
I had a Hoover steam cleaner in the past. It was wonderful--much easier to use than rentals, did not wear me out nearly as much, and far less annoying than the Bissell canister I had. When I moved out of state, I gave it to my daughter-in-law. So I bought this one for what seemed to be a good price, put it together, and started to use it. Then I noticed it had no scrubbing brushes like me old ones did. The manual says it does, but it simply doesn't. I am returning it and getting one with brushes. In all fairness, on the swath I tried it on, the return water was quite dirty, so it may be fine for carpets that are cleaned more frequently.

I had had a Hoover SteamVac before, and loved it. After about 10 years it started to have some problems, so I thought I would get a replacement. On the new F5810 the top reservoir leaked when I filled it. I had drips all the way from the sink to the machine. Then the lip of the return reservoir cracked. Then...the machine stopped sucking water. It released water whether I was pressing the pump or not...and never vacuumed it up. So...now I have a sopping wet carpet and non-functioning machine. Fortunately I had kept my old machine and used it to vacuum up the water.

It has no scrubbing bar but it does work on carpet so long as you don't need to fluff up the material. I use mine on berber so it makes little difference... and the machine has no attachments so I do wish I had upgraded to get the attachments.
If you have the need for an economical machine, this is the one that works now for 2 years.

I've had this product for about 2-3 weeks now and it's working solid thus far. We had some pretty heavy dog urine problems and it seems to be getting them up very well with just hot water. I am very impressed so far, very good value for the price. Let's just hope it lasts.

Okay for the money but not heavy duty,

I bought a demo model of this kind. Which is pretty much new. Right away I was disappointed because it had no hand tool for our stairs. The brushes on the bottom don't rotate. It has good suction power, but I feel takes too long for the sprayer to effectively wet the carpets. Overall I think it is a good to decent product for the money, if you don't need a heavy duty machine. Also if you don't have steps or need an upholestry tool this model is great probably for apartments or single story houses with only a few rooms of carpet! I however have kids and older carpets so I invested in a bit more expensive bissell pro heat because I need something a bit more heavy duty that can do steps!
