2 kids a dog and "oatmeal" carpet, this purchase was long overdue. Not only does it get out everyday dust and dirt, it works on juice spills, dog tracks, and red GA clay. The upholstery/stair attachment works great on the upholstery, stairs. I have used this on the car interior and it works perfectly! I highly recommend this model: it is affordable and will pay for itself the second time you use it. The only draw back is that the cord is a bit short, and the hose attachment is too short to reach my stairs: probably a sacrifice to the amount of suction the attachment provides.

Only reason I gave it 4 in stead of 5 stars is due to the size of the dirty water container. Seems like you have to unload
the dirty water quite often for the size area that you are cleaning. Other than that note the carpet cleaner is fantastic.
If you have a dog coming in and out from the dirty winter snow this machine is a must. I have had my carpets cleaned professionally for years and for the price of one cleaning you can get this cleaner and it does just about as good of a job as the profesionals.

The quality of the cleaner is very good, it feels very solid and well built. For anyone with light colored carpets that have pet(s) and often paid a lot to have the carpets cleaned by someone else, I would highly recommend this cleaner. Don't be fooled however that the cleaning is effortless. Cleaning carpets no matter what takes time and plenty of effort.

This carpet cleaner is great! I bought it yesterday to clean the 1500 sq feet of carpet in my apartment before the landlord inspects the place, and was thoroughly impressed at its performance. I used one gallon of hot water & cleaner solution (included in the box) to clean one-half of a 12x12 room with some pretty heavy dirt and spill stains in it. The carpet ended up cleaner and softer than I could have ever imagined, and (with the help of a fan), it dried in just a couple hours. The pile that had been crushed down flat for years was significantly lifted, and all the stale carpet odors were gone.

Assembly only took one screwdriver, and was straightforward. It's not too loud, or too difficult to maneuver. The brushes got amazingly close to the edge of the carpet, and the dirty water that came out of the carpet looked like chocolate milk. It took only a few minutes to get used to using the Steam Vac, and though tricky at first, the clean and dirty water buckets remove and install easily. I was also impressed with the sturdy overall construction.

The only (slight) drawbacks:

When I removed the dirty water tank, there was some very light dripping of the spent cleaning solution onto the carpet, but no major spills. The fresh cleaning solution in the tank cooled down quiet a bit before I used up the entire 1-gallon reservoir. It started out from the tap at around 110 degrees, and after about 30 minutes in the machine, dropped down to 90 or so. I solved this by pouring it into a microwave safe container and re-heating it to around 120 with a thermometer. I don't know how high of a temperature the machine can take, so I didn't go much hotter than that. Also, the sharp, hard corners on the front of the cleaner could damage baseboards if you slam it into them, so be careful around walls.

Months ago, I rented a huge, ten-gallon professional rug cleaner, and found it nearly impossible to use compared to the Hoover. It took ten times as much work without the scrubbing brushes, and the results were not as dramatic. Plus, not being handy with the huge cleaner, I tended to oversoak the rug with the solution. Considering I'll need to clean the carpets several times within the next six months, The Hoover Steam Vac will eventually pay for itself.

I've had this machine for a couple of years, and it's had a lot of hard usage. In my old house, it did a great job on our heavily soiled carpeting. Now that we've moved, I use it on the whole carpet every couple of months. It keeps the carpet so fresh smelling, even with dogs in the house. It's easy enough to set up that I don't mind getting it out for a quick clean-up.

My German shepherd became incontinent toward the end of his life, and I don't know what I would have done without this carpet cleaner. For awhile I was using it once or twice a day. If this machine broke today, I would buy another one right away!

There are a few bad points, as with anything in life. :-) If you leave the system set up while you go do something else, a big puddle of water can drain out of the machine. It's a little heavy, but not too bad. Those things are minor compared to the great job this machine does on carpets!

This machine is wonderful. With 2 dogs, 3 cats and white carpeting, something had to be done. I'd used the truck mounted cleaning services in the past and they could not get all of the orange tinted cat [throw up] stain out of the carpet ... which with 3 cats is almost a daily thing! I'd been using one of those "green machine" things for a couple of years and found I was on my hands and knees scrubbing the spots and getting nowhere. I was pretty fed up and threatened to paint the carpet orange! Until I read the reviews for the Hoover Steamvac.

I bought mine last Thursday. Assembly was easy. Friday morning I cleaned my dining room carpet and I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am with the results. Every single stain is out - something that the carpet cleaning services were never able to accomplish to my satisfaction. The carpet is soft under foot and it looks as good as it did the day it was installed. The carpet dried fairly quickly.

The machine is easy to operate and manuever. The tanks are extremely easy to put in and take out. The solution tank is easy to fill and the collection tank is easy to empty.

I would recommend this machine to anyone interested in a home carpet cleaning machine without any hesitation what-so-ever. If I have anything at all negative to say about it - it is that I waited so long to get one. Don't make the same mistake ... purchase this Hoover Steamvac - you will be happy you did. I guarantee.

I'm single, w/minimal mechanical ability, and was able to assemble this cleaner quickly because of the user-friendly directions. With free shipping, it made sense to me to have it delivered to my front door, rather than my putting it in a shopping cart, then taking it out of my car. It was very easy to use and did as good of a job as "the professionals" who I used to call, so this machine will pay for itself for me. I shampoooed my living room, 2 hallways, my bedroom and the bedroom I am using as a home office. My rugs are fresh, clean and look new. Next I will clean my daughter's room and our guest bedroom. The 2 tanks are easy to take off: one for putting in the cleaner solution and hot water, and the second for pouring out the dirty water from the carpet. They are easy to put back on too. Because of that, I'm not dreading cleaning the rugs anymore, and have the satisfaction of knowing that my rugs will always stay clean now, especially since I have 2 dogs. Buy extra cleaner at the drug store before you start, because this comes with just one little bottle. This is a very good product - easy to use and does an outstanding job. I recommend it highly.

We've been cleaning the pet stains on our carpet for the past year with a handheld wet-vac, and it was just not cutting it. It would get some of it out, but still left some discoloration and ODOR that has been building up over the past year and was getting intolerable. We hired a professional carpet cleaner once, which helped, but within a month we needed cleaning again. We finally broke down and invested in this Hoover SteamVac Deluxe and we totally love it! Because the stains had been there for so long, we had to use it 2-3 times to get it totally clean, but now that it's clean, you can't even tell there ever were stains, and the odor is completely gone (whereas with the pro cleaners, there was still a slight odor left). We were amazed (and rather disgusted too) by how dirty the water was when we emptied out the SteamVac, but relieved because it meant it was working well! AND, when we used it in our general living areas (which had no stains at all, and which we dry-vacummed WEEKLY) we were amazed to find that THAT water was pretty dirty too! The SteamVac got out dirt that we didn't even know was there! You'd be amazed how dirty carpet really is even though it LOOKS clean. And watching that dirt go down the drain is very reassuring, especially with a 1-year old crawling around the house. So now we plan to use it all over the house once a month in addition to dry-vacumming. I think the best features are the ease of filling/emptying/cleaning the water tanks (VERY EASY), as well as the 5 scrubbing brushes and its 12-amp power. And the price was VERY reasonable for what you get -- it's not much more than a dry vacuum.

Consider this, I only used this once. I do like the results. It seemed to do a very good job and it didn't take very long to dry - using the Drying Tips that are in the instruction booklet. I covered about 1300 sq ft with only about 2.5 bucket changes and it took less than an hour.
The only downfall is that when using the handtool, the cleaning solution comes out cold because the solution tube is attached to and travels along the hose before it gets to the handtool.
Good Investment for those who own dogs and have lighter carpeting.

I have the Hoover Steam VAc Delux and lucky I do! I knocked a gallon can of white paint off a step latter, and at least a third of the gallon spread in an ugly puddle on my bedroom carpet. After blotting up the worst of it with paper towels, I decided to try the Hoover and its carpet cleaning solution on the horible smudge. With each pass, more and more of the paint visibly went into the holding tank. After a dozen or so passes, it became increasingly difficult to see anything amiss in the area where the smudge had been. Now that the carpet is dry, it is nearly impossible to see where the accident happened. My eyes go straight over to the closet door every time I enter the room, and I tell you, the carpet there looks just fine.

...I decided to try out this model...and low and behold the machine worked like a charm. It did not leak, was easier to insert the full solution tank, was lighter weight and eaiser to use (has only five brushes instead of six--five is plenty)! This machine not only cleaned up the soaked and lightened area left by the other model(by rinsing the area about three times with hot water alone), but it also cleaned the rest of my cream-colored carpet like new.

This machine is a true bargain, if you figure it costs about the same as having your carpets cleaned two times.... It is great and I would highly recommend it! ... It's great!
