Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Designed for pet owners and active households, this hot-water vacuum cleans carpets and scrubs bare floors with an extra-wide, 14-inch cleaning path after they've been dry-vacuumed. The vacuum applies hot tap water and cleaning concentrate (16 ounces of carpet/upholstery concentrate included) into carpet fibers or onto bare floors with six rotating brushes at two speeds (plus "off" when brushing isn't needed) and then vacuums up the dirty water. A powered hand-tool comes along for scrubbing extra-soiled areas, stairs, and auto interiors. No faucet hookup is required. Both clean-water and dirty-water tanks detach for filling and emptying, and the machine shuts off automatically when the dirty-water tank is full. The vacuum cleans going forward and backward and automatically adjusts for carpet heights, bare floors, and an accompanying stair/upholstery nozzle (great for auto interiors). It has a finger-trigger for applying the cleaning solution and a surge button to spray more solution on spots and heavy-traffic areas. The on/off switch is toe-operated for convenience. A 10-foot tool hose and 30-foot power cord provide an extra-wide cleaning reach. Assembly requires just two nuts and bolts and one Phillips-head screw (all included), and the instruction booklet is easy to follow. The vacuum carries a 1-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Cleaner, December 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hoover F6030-900 SteamVac Widepath with CleanSurge Carpet Cleaner (Kitchen)
This is an excellent carpet cleaner! I just purchased one to take care of my new carpeting which is cream colored and in a house with 2 kids and two dogs. I had an extra piece of carpet bound and use it as a mat at the front door so people could take off their shoes. Even with all of the precautions it is amazing at how much dirt builds up! When I took the mat up to clean the carpet, the carpet under the mat was a good two shades lighter than the rest of the room. I used the Hoover, and now the whole room matches the color of the carpet that was covered! I did have a noticeable line in the carpet where the mat ended. Two passes with the clean surge button and the dirt was out. I was a little concerned with the amount I spent on the machine, but considering how much carpeting costs and how well this machine made the cream colored carpet look like it was just installed, I think it is well worth the money!! I would suggest this machine to anyone, the only drawback to the machines I used to rent is the water capacity is about a gallon which means more trips to the sink to empty and refill, but because the tanks are easy to remove and put back this is tolerable because it doesn't take too long to do. As far as cleaning it is superb!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Cleaner!!!, December 22, 2001

You'll be amazed with the ability and ease of this steam vac. This vac is wonderfull. This is my first cleaner of this kind, and I am very happy with my purchase. At first I was a little afraid of spending so much money, but it is an excellent investment. You just fill the resevoir with about 1 gallon of hot tap water, pop it into place, and go. The resevoir of dirty water is also a snap to lift out and empty. This machine scrubs in both forward and reverse while lifting almost all the water back out of the carpet that is used to clean it. The rest of what is left is completely dry in 2 to 4 hours depending on how many times you have to use the "surge button" for the extra dirty areas. An example I have is that I had 4 (1 yr old) rusty water spots in my carpet that I used resolve carpet cleaner on to try and remove (which didn't work). I used my Hoover with the clean surge over these spots and they were gone in one sweep of the machine. Another feature that I like about the Hoover is that it doesn't leave any water spots when sitting idle, starting, or stopping. I highly recommend this, I couldn't believe the amount to dirt was in carpet.

I have used commercial cleaners in the past and found they did a good job but were bulky. I purchased this cleaner because of the great ratings and I am not disappointed. It is lighter than the commercials and cleans every bit as good and in some cases better.
I also liked the fact it is made in the USA.
Nice job, Hoover, and will definitely consider Hoover products in the future
