5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive, February 4, 2007
This review is from: Hoover F6032-900 SteamVac WidePath (Kitchen)
I had always heard how 'great' Bissels were, so a few months ago I purchased one. I was so disappointed that I returned it to the store. It dumped a few gallons of detergent into my carpet and failed to suck any of it back up (low suction power). It was a huge let-down.

After doing a bit more research, I found that people were generally pleased with the Hoover SteamVacs featuring SpinScrub technology (the spinning brushed underneath). I checked around to see which models were available locally in the various stores and decided on the Hoover F6039 from Sears. It has only minor differences from the F6032 listed here. The only difference I noticed is a different trim color and the F6039 has headlights.

My expectations for this carpet cleaner were not that high. However, I was surprised by its performance. It was fairly easy to use, cleaned the carpet pretty well, and sucked up most of the water it sprayed on. The carpet was left just damp -- not soaked like with the Bissel.

From an engineering perspective, the first thing that turned me off from the Bissel was the design for the vaccuum airflow. There's a very small lint filter that all vaccuumed air must flow through (it's the little red plastic filter inside the reservoir). From what I remember, this filter was about 1"x1" small. The Hoover has a much less restricted airflow design, that probably contributes significantly to its suction power.

Overall, I am pleased with the unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Bunch., February 6, 2007

After reading review after review and doing countless hours of research, I finally settled on trying the Hoover F6032-900 SteamVac WidePath home carpet shampooer. With the exception of needing a little larger tank, I think the design and performance of this machine is right on. The ease of assembling this product and the performance it gives are outstanding. Our carpets look great again and they were DIRTY! I had good luck with this machines predecessor (somewhere up the line years back), and received excellent customer care from Hoover when a simple part needed replacing (they even shipped it free!).

I was disappointed to not be able to find a widepath machine in town though and I knew that I wanted the extra cleaning width. I settled to try a Bissell 9400 ProHeat 2X because it was available in town, but after getting it home, I was really not satisfied with the bladder design of the clean and waste water "mingling" in the tank or the "feel" of the plastic parts. I returned it to the store before assembling it and if they would have had a "demo" model, I probably never would have purchased it in the first place.

Amazon.com came through again. I ordered on line and got a great product and a great price. I had to wait a couple of days but it was well worth it. Your product reviews help a lot too. I would have settled for a different model and probably would not have been happy after the sale. There are a lot of makes and models out there. It gets confusing in a hurry. But "Hoover I'm home!" You provided the product and the customer service that delivers and here's "Clean Carpets to You!".

This review is from: Hoover F6032-900 SteamVac WidePath (Kitchen)
I really like this product, the only draback might be for a smaller person who may find it heave and bulky. I do not .I like the convience of all the attatchments always hooked and ready to go at the touch of a button,I can get alot done in a short time Te tank size equals the tank recovery size , on my old one it had a smaller recovery tank and i was always emptying it ,now i fill one tank and when thats empty its time to empty the recovery tank
