I love this thing!,
By Avalon Daughter (I wish I was in Glastonbury) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hoover F7205-900 SteamVac V2 with SpinScrub Brushes (Kitchen)
I'm a cleaner and I also have allergies to dust, mold, pollen and also have two cats so I love when my place is fresh, clean and sparkling. I own this thing and I love it.I originally borrowed my mother's and after using it was surprised at how clean everything was. I've had a number of comments from friends that the rugs look brand new. Better yet, I was dating someone who had severe asthma and when he walked in, he took a deep breath and said: "You cleaned your carpets, right?" He didn't wheeze one bit the entire time he was there. I also own a Dyson vacuum. Love that, too. When I power clean, I'll vacuum over everything slowly and thoroughly first. All the cat hair picks up plus dust, dirt and my own hair. Then I'll start working with the Hoover. Despite the power behind the Dyson, the water in the Hoover is always dark when I'm washing. Within a short amount of time, the rugs feel great! There is a rinsing option as well if you want to make sure all of the cleaner is out of the rug and you can pretty much go over everything without depressing the clean button to suck up excess water. This also has a squeegee attachment to do the linoleum floors. Good idea. Scrubs then scoops up the water and sucks it up. There is a a different detergent for linoleum so take a look around. However, it is very LOUD when doing bare floors. Not recommended at night. :) Also, there are two Hoover SteamVacs, one with more brushes. My mother's had the fewer amount and I haven't noticed any difference between the two. I just ended up with the bigger one because when I ordered the smaller from Sears, they sent the larger by mistake and said: "Oh, well, you get it for the other price." Good deal! Good tip: If you want to clean in the winter -- don't hesitate! Especially when it's really cold outside. Not only does it get the dirt that's been laying around while your windows are all shut but when it's so cold that the humidity is at 0 you'll be surprised how fast the rugs dry. I did mine just now an hour ago and they're all dry. The only thing I'd recommend is to buy a allergenic detergent. The best one I've used is Bissell 720 Multi-Allergen Removal Formula, which you can find on Amazon.com. This really seems to do the trick when it comes to getting out the junk in the rugs. Things do snap apart for cleaning and can take a little time, but if you vacuum thoroughly enough before hand you shouldn't have this excess of junk to pull out. There are some crevices where things can get up into, but snap it off, turn on the garbage disposal and get the faucet hose and you should be good. With all vacuums and rug machines, I have this advice: You have to go slowly with ANY machine. Not snail-slow, but don't go so fast! Give both time to really pick up. If you sweep too fast, it misses the dirt. Quick swiping is alright for last minute company cleaning, but once a week I really take my time with my vacuum. A good rule of thumb for cleaning (if you really want that fresh look without overloading the machine with dirt) would be vacuum once a week -- wash once a month. The combo of both these machines has well been worth it. I recommend this machine for any household and if you want super clean, get the Dyson vacuum as well.

Don't buy this if you plan to use the attachment tools,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hoover F7205-900 SteamVac V2 with SpinScrub Brushes (Kitchen)
After doing a lot of research looking at reviews here on Amazon and doing a feature comparison on the Hoover website, I had decided that the V2 was the machine for me. I even looked at the user manual on the Hoover website to verify that setting up the machine for the attachment tools would be quick and easy, and it seemed like it would be. Just attach the hose to the slot in the front of the machine, plug in the little dispenser hose on the side, and you're all set. Before spending so much money on an online purchase (just thing of the shipping costs to return it!), I decided to look the machine over at a local store. Sure enough, it takes just a few seconds to change over to the attachment tools. The problem is, it doesn't stay hooked up! The hose is only held in by a friction fit - you just put it in the slot and give it a quarter-turn. The fluid hose helps a little to keep it in place, but not much. Just by wiggling the hose around a bit a few feet away from the machine (as if I were using the attachments), the hose popped lose in a few seconds. Two store employees trying two different machines couldn't get the hose to stay in place. The problem is that there's no way to lock the hose in place. How many of you have those extension wand things for your vaccuum cleaners? You pull out the extension and turn it a bit to "lock" it in place, but it never stays there. As you use it, it slowly wiggles loose, and next thing you know, your extension is no longer extended! Well, this machine had pretty much the same problem, except it didn't stay in place more than a few seconds. The other problem that I noticed is that, because of the loose fit, it didn't seem to me that you would get very good suction with the attachment tools, and I've seen comments here that show people have had that problem. If you don't plan on using this machine with the attachment tools, then it's probably fine, but I would stay away from it otherwise. Personally, I decided to go with the LS model, but they're being phased out and are hard to find.

Plastic containers broken,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hoover F7205-900 SteamVac V2 with SpinScrub Brushes (Kitchen)
I bought my first steam vac 2 almost a year ago. I had to take the 1st one back because it lost suction the 2nd time I used it. Then I had the 2nd one about 4 months and the plastic containers started falling apart. First the handles fell off then it just got worse from there. Now I cant use it at all. The only thing is is that it really worked well when its working. I am trying to decide if I should just buy another one. I saw some place that I can buy the containers (top and bottom) but they are like 35.00 a piece. Thats a little expensive. I know I should of done something about it when it first happened but I just borrowed my moms (who has a broken top tank but has it duct taped). Now its probably to late.

We live in the country , with plenty of dirt and mud - one cat and one dog and very messy people . We were on the verge of new carpet and desided to try this Hoover instead, My husband and I took turns useing it and we're shocked as to how easy it was to put together and use , and the carpet looks great, we can't stop looking at the carpet . Thanks for a good product that does what it says it will do .

Don't do it,
By D (Ohio USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hoover F7205-900 SteamVac V2 with SpinScrub Brushes (Kitchen)
There were 4 families in our neighborhood that borrowed the same older Hoover SteamVac for years. No problem. We moved so we purchased a Bissell of our own. They responded by replacing the cheap plastic parts as they broke until the warranty was up. It was a pain it the butt. It was useless after a year and it was only in working condition for a few months.
So we decided to go with a Hoover - the new model. BIG MISTAKE. Cheap plastic again. Only Hoover says it our fault the handle broke and the solution container cracked. I'm still fighting them on this. Approximately $50 plus shipping for a new solution container. Looks like it's made out the same plastic as a 2-litre bottle - only worse, it's more brittle. You can't tell me this container makes up a quarter of the cost of the machine. This is seriously flawed product as is most of the competition. The BIGGER PROBLEM is that Hoover does not stand behind it. Beware!!! Sad to say about what used to be a reputable company from my own state.

A Piece of Junk,
By Unhappy and disappointed "No more SteamVacs f... (los angeles) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hoover F7205-900 SteamVac V2 with SpinScrub Brushes (Kitchen)
I loved our first SteamVac, bought in 1997. It was well-made, sturdy, and did the job. The new one we bought last June, however, is a piece of junk. Clearly, the quality Hoover once demanded is out the window.
Like others who have complained, we experienced the leaking from day one. Two months in, the handle on the top tank broke, had to duct tape it. Just recently, the handle on the bottom tank broke. There is an inherent design flaw and the top tank does not seat properly. Soap, water and dirty water leak all over floors and outside/inside the machine. Using it is like aversion therapy. We dread it. When I called Hoover this morning to complain, they acted as if this problem doesn't exist, and appeared to not care at all. Didn't even ask for my name, address, purchase info, etc. Today, I am going out to buy a new machine and it won't be a Hoover. If I could rate this lower than one star, I would. Do not buy this machine unless you have money to waste!

waste of money,

trash, this is the worst product I have ever bought. The water tank has started leaking after only 2 hours of use. made of really thin plastic that will not stand up to normal use. a recall needs to be enacted on this product. I have an older deluxe hoover model that was made in the USA that has lasted for years and expected the same quality from this product. On a positive note it worked well before it started strated leaking "buyer beware of this junk"

Two kids a dog and cream colored carpets,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hoover F7205-900 SteamVac V2 with SpinScrub Brushes (Kitchen)
The house we just purchased was previously owned by a single person, no kids and cream colored carpets. I have two kids a dog and a very active household meaning kids are running in and out. Our home is almost totally carpeted. I bought this steamvac last week and have put it through it's paces all week long. It is extremely easy to use. You can see how well it has cleaned when you dump out that bucket of dirty water. It took everything up including a two month old chocolate cream pie stain. My carpets look brand new! It is great not to have to rent a machine I can barely lift and have the time to do my carpets when I want to rather than having to do them all in on day.

Looks impressive but falls apart,

This review is from: Hoover F7205-900 SteamVac V2 with SpinScrub Brushes (Kitchen)
I have a similar experience to several other reviewers. This machine worked fine for 3 or 4 rug cleanings, which in my house is not a big job. But somewhere around the 4th time, the valve to the clean water tank just stopped working, and now all it does is leak water down the side of the machine, no matter how many times I try to reseat the tank. It would be quicker for me to just dump the contents of the tank on the floor. I am so upset that I spent so much money on this item and now it's too old to return, and not worth repairing. What a waste. I do NOT recommend this product!

Trash,
By Patrick (San Diego, Ca) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hoover F7205-900 SteamVac V2 with SpinScrub Brushes (Kitchen)
I've logged less than 5 hours on my steam vac. It's been in the closet for the last six months and when I pulled it out todato fill the water tank, I found that the bottom was rotted out. How can this be??? I kept my vac clean between uses and never stored chemicals in the holding tanks. The manucturer's date on the bottom is August 2003. I've read some of the complaints about this vac and had thought I was alone. My deduction is this... it's a piece of trash. Maytag/Hoover should be ashamed to put this product on the market. I'm a machinist by trade and found that the bottom of the tank where the 'rot' occurred is less than .020 thick. Folks, that's about the thickness of 3 human hairs. I'll follow up this post with a complaint directly to the manufacturer. It's disgusting. |
