My previous Floormate lasted 8 years through heavy use so when it died, I knew I wanted another. This new updated Floormate is even better than my old model. I have rough textured porcelain tile floors (like stone). This new Floormate with the spinbrushes scrubs it clean. I love the dry cycle. It gets my floors much drier than my old model.

The big benefit to a Floormate over mopping or swiffering, is that the dirty water gets vacuumed up, not just pushed around. My tile is dark so I can't really see how dirty it gets, but you should see the dirty water it pulls up, even when I think my floors are clean!

Two issues: you have to hold down a lever to spray water/soap solution onto the floors and by the time I'm done with the floors, my hand is hurting. The other issue is that even with the grout brushes on, it doesn't really get down to the grout. I will still be doing a grout cleaning every 6 months on my hands and knees with a scrub brush.

It is light, easy to use and gets floors much cleaner than mopping.

I detest mopping the floor. Filling buckets of water, pouring out dirty water, and having the feeling that all I'm doing is making the floor wet with dirty water after the first pass with the sponge mop. I've tried all kinds of mops too. The biggest problem is the pain in my back and neck while I am mopping. Needless to say, my floors just didn't get mopped as often as they should.

Then I found the Floormate. What a great idea---it works just like a carpet shampooer. Clean water and floor cleaner in one tank, and dirty water goes into another tank. It's brilliant! Best if all, no back or neck pain for me.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is due to the size of the water containers. I wish they were bigger. Need to empty and refill the tanks more often than I would like. However, it's a minor inconvenience compared to the benefits!

Just bought this at Walmart and used it immediately. Wow it is much easy than the Cinderella method of floor cleaning. Does not get grout real well but sure got the dirt out of the rough in my tile. In order to get enough water on floor when pushing forward also pull trigger and it dispenses plenty of water and then pull back slowly so the brushes can scrub up dirt and then the suction does a great job at picking up the dirty water, doesn't quite get all water but pretty good. Didn't think that it was that messy to clean out dirty water and to refill clean water. Very light weight, easy to use and I got it at a great price also. Be sure to vacuum (as with all these hard floor cleaners) debris off floor before using this product. I used no detergent/cleaners in mine just hot!!! tap water. It is a lot cleaner than those steam things that just smear the stuff on floor around to other areas and don't have to buy expensive steam head replacements. Overall i would recommend this to everyone to save at least a half hour minimum in cleaning the floor. Way to go Hoover the spin brush is a splendid idea.

I was getting very discouraged with vacuuming and mopping with the Swiffer, which is super convenient and doesn't keep using the same dirty mop head, but when I did spot cleaning, even right after mopping, the paper towel would come up looking way too dirty... like I hadn't mopped at all! So I decided to give the FloorMate a try.

PROS: Floors are definitely cleaner, which is the point.
Dirty water vacuumed up is evidence of what used to be left on floor.
Fairly easy to assemble.
Reasonable price.
Solution and dirty-water tanks are easy to remove, replace, refill and/or empty.

CONS: Unit is very heavy to push around. Definitely causes back pain.
Directions for use are completely inadequate. (Example: To make cleaning solution come out, the unit has to be moving. They don't tell you this.)
Holding down solution-flow button causes hand fatigue and pain.
Doesn't clean grout well.
Unit is large, requiring significant storage space.

All in all, I think it's worth it for cleaner floors. But it's not the easiest contraption to use, especially if you have back or hand problems.

Most definitely, the floors are cleaner, and the dirty water that is vacuumed up is pretty good evidence of what used to just be spread around. I love the fact that it dries the floors and picks up the dirty water, and the size of the containers seems adequate to me.

This morning I bought the Hoover Floormate because my Shark steamer died on me. I have tile flooring in my house.

PROS: It cleaned the floors very well
Easy to assemble
Light weight
Not enought solution sprays out so I had to go over and over the same spots

CONS: I had to refill the cleaning solution reservoir 4 times to clean one room
It was messy to fill the reservoir
Did not fit under the cabinet overhang
The resevoirs dripped solution across the cleaned floors as I changed them out
It took me 4 times longer to clean the floors then it did with the steam mop
It does not swivel to get the hard to reach places like around the toilet

I will be returning this product and purchase another Shark steamer
