Genuine Hoover Agitator Assembly

The picture shows what my original roller looked like. The roller received is round wood without the flutes like the original plastic roller. And the part that the drive belt runs on has a big groove cut in it so the belt is only driving on the outer edges. I don't have much confidence in this lasting very long.

Even though this isn't an exact replacement, (this is wood, original is plastic), I was going to give it a try anyway. But..., there's no groove for the belt that spins it. Actually, there are several grooves, just not one where it needs to be no matter how I orient it in the vacuum. I'm returning it.

Received the agitator brush today on time as promised.

The agitator brush I received was Plastic.

Installed the item into my vacuum and used with no problem.

I have a 14-15 year old 15 inch wide upright Hoover Wind Tunnel.

Very satisfied with the agitator brush and the service.

I've replaced the roller on my trusty old Hoover bagged Windtunnel, model U5445-900, a couple of times over the years. The bristles wear down, so replacing the roller, light bulb, belt, filters, and bag get the machine running like brand new! However, in the past I purchased replacement parts directly from Hoover, and the rollers I got were exact replacements.

This time I took my chances, and ordered from Amazon instead of Hoover. The seller was T & T Enterprises LLC., fulfilled by Amazon. Like other reviewers, I received a roller made of what I guess is wood. (Pictures uploaded.) It says "genuine" on the package, for whatever that is worth. Maybe it means genuine wood?

I don't care that it's made of wood, or whatever, or the fact it doesn't resemble the previous OEM replacements I've bought from Hoover in the past...at all. But the little nubs on the end of the rollers do not match the OEM roller, and don't fit like the OEM roller into my vacuum. (I forgot to take pictures of the ends, sorry!) I had a difficult time getting the little "nubs" to align in the notches in the vacuum. Now, when I use the vacuum, it makes a loud screeching sound.

Regardless, the vacuum is otherwise doing it's job, I guess. But, the next time I buy a roller, I'll be getting it directly from Hoover again, and not taking my chances with third party sellers on Amazon. And if it turns out this is the "genuine" Hoover replacement, I think it kinda sucks.

Also, finding replacement parts for my particular vacuum is getting to be a pain...I can't even find my vacuum on Hoover's site anymore, and navigating parts on Amazon is a nightmare. If you have trouble as well, try Sears Parts Direct to find ALL the parts for your vacuum, complete with exploded diagrams and everything!

The replacement part is made of wood while the original is higher quality plastic. This is not the fault of the vendor but a substitution by the manufacturer.

This is the second brush that i purchased for our hoover vacuum. It works better then the previous one by a different mfg.

i would recommend this to anyone!!

If / when we wear this one out, i'll be buying another one. Perfect>>>

This agitator makes the vacuum operate very close to new condition.

The part is an exact fit replacement with no problems.

After reading the complaints about it being wood I was skeptical about ordering this. However since Hoover didn't have any available I took the chance and now I'm glad I did. Yes it is wood...but it is very heavy duty and well made. I installed it within a few minutes and it worked great. I would recommend this product.

My old agitator was worn out to the point that my Vacuum sounded like a jet engine.

It was the end pieces that kind of came out from the inside assembly and they didn't turn smooth anymore.

It took some research to get just the right one for my Windtunnel as there are so many different models.

I suggest to go to the Hoover website and pick your model number and then write down the number of the proper agitator.

As to the agitator itself? Yes its wood. It does not look like the picture, but I expected that, reading the other reviews. I could not find the plastic one anywhere and even on Hoover's website they are out of stock.

It looks and feels very solid and the ends turn very smooth. I think that was the part I was worried about. So it seems to be well made, even if it isn't like the picture.

It fit like a glove though and turns fine and it isn't as loud anymore. My Windtunnel has always been loud somewhat.

I can't speak to the longevity as I just put it in. I went around the House and it grooms the carpet fine so we'll see.

One thing I did notice is that hair didn't wrap itself around the brush so desperately as it did with the plastic one. I have very long hair and its always a pain. I think because its not twisted and the way the bristles are made, its seems a bit easier to get the hair off.

My Hoover Windtunnel is the 5750-900.

eta: I just noticed that the picture showing now is the right product. When I ordered it showed the plastic one, now it shows the wood, which is what you get.
