PERFECT Tool for Hard Floors!, January 11, 2009
This review is from: Hoover H3060050 FloorMate Widepath SpinScrub Hard-Floor Cleaner with Portable Detail Kit (Kitchen)
This is a must have tool.
Hoover H3060050 FloorMate Widepath SpinScrub Hard-Floor Cleaner with Portable Detail Kit
The improvements from the older versions make a great tool a fantastic tool! My home is all hardwood and tile. The base unit with the new wand and tile attachments have made my life EASY..and keep my floors clean, clean, clean ...there is nothing better than for keeping your hard floors fresh. Other brands push dirty water around...the Hoover cleans with water and then instantly extracts the dirty water into an easy to empty separate tank - a must have feature for me. The waste water does NOT seep into your floors to produce odors. Clean up of the tool and accessories is a snap. I LOVE the caddy to hold the "extras" ...it keeps everything neat and the tool you need is always right at hand. DON'T hesitate to purchase this unit!!

Same product at a lower price?, January 15, 2009
This review is from: Hoover H3060050 FloorMate Widepath SpinScrub Hard-Floor Cleaner with Portable Detail Kit (Kitchen)
I got this delivered today and I was a little unsure if this Floormate was going to be missing something that the others have. I'm not sure why Hoover has 5+ models of the Floormate, several of which seem identical but with a vast range of prices. This is by far the cheapest and from what I can tell has all the same parts and options of the model selling for $150. This model includes the detail kit and surprisingly also came with both sets of brushes (normal and grout). After getting this, I don't see what the other models could have that this one doesn't but good luck deciphering Hoover's model numbers.
I fired up the Hoover first thing and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I have over 1000 square feet of tile in my house and it's a constant pain to keep it clean between a dog and a toddler running around. I first tried the vacuum feature and as I expected it's not great for vacuuming. Without a roller and with the relatively lower ground clearance needed to properly suction up water, there's just not enough clearance or power to pick up larger debris. I'll stick to my Dyson for vacuuming the floor prior to using the Floormate but it is handy to use the Floormate to pick up something small if you missed it while vacuuming. I then made a quick pass and while it cleaned the tile decently, it can't really scrub the grout. I then use a hand brush with some Finazzle grout cleaner to scrub the grout. This works well but leaves me with a huge dirty mess around the floor. Here's where the Floormate really shines. Previously at this point I would be forced to mop or use some paper towels to clean this up which would result in pushing some of that dirt right back into the grout. Instead now I put the Floormate into wash mode and scrubbed the floor with the brushes and then switched it to dry mode and sucked up the dirty water. So while it's not the wonder tool end all, it will clean your tile and get the dirty water off your floor efficiently. Nothing is going to replace elbow grease and chemicals for cleaning the grout, but this does aid in the process. The Floormate really shines in its ability to put sufficient water/cleaner on your floor with a brush to agitate and losen stains and then suck up the "funk" without pushing it back into the grout.

Love my SpinScrub Floormate!, April 16, 2009
This review is from: Hoover H3060050 FloorMate Widepath SpinScrub Hard-Floor Cleaner with Portable Detail Kit (Kitchen)
I've had my Floormate for about a month now and I just LOVE it! I've read all the reviews and I'm curious why some didn't like the machine.
My house is 2 story, 2600 sq. ft. and the entire downstairs is Ceramic Tile (so approx. 1300 sq. ft.) of tile. I used to dread the mop & bucket because it was a lot of back-breaking work mopping the floor and even when I did the floor wasn't clean and still had grit on it because you start with a clean bucket of water but are soon just slopping filthy water back onto the floor.. UGHHH!
I use a large janitor style push mop to pickup the loose dirt and hair, then I run the Floormate on Dry Pickup and then I run the wash cycle. WOW! It's so nice, my floors are dry and clean and no grit left behind. Yes you have to refill the water a few times but it's not a hassle at all.
The first time I used the floormate the water was soooo disgusting and filthy because the old mop & bucket did a horrible job. Now when I use it each week the water is dirty... but not as dirty as the first time. That's because the floors are clean now and using it weekly the floors don't get a chance to get filthy.
You have to go slowly but so what, the unit is light and easy to push (I HIGHLY recommend this for the elderly as it's lightweight and easy to push and empty/fill). The Floormate gets up all kinds of things like spills and light stains but it isn't a miracle worker it won't pick up stuck on goo, I still have to get down and scrub up stuck on goo by hand but I don't mind because the mop didn't get the stubborn stuck on stuff up either.
I got the tools with my unit and I admit they are somewhat cheaply made so I'm not that impressed with the attachments and if I were purchasing again I would spend less and get the unit without the attachments.
Lastly, I don't use their cleaning solution because it's too expensive. You can't use cleaners with solvents so I use White Vinegar (1 oz. to one qt. water) and it works like a charm.
I'm very happy with the Floormate and would/will definitely buy another one when mine dies.
LOVING my clean tile floors!!
