5.0 out of 5 stars Scared about Remanufactured Products
Dont be scared. I was very unsure about the quality but bought the product anyway. I was very pleased and still use the product daily with no complaints. The price was great and the product is great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Reconditioned.... try missing feature!
I purchased this item because most of the reviews were all good but that was a huge mistake! I did receive it fast but the windtunnel did not have all of the features that the picture and description showed. I called Amazon and they mailed me out another one right away but that too had the same feature missing. Both vacuum's I received had a black "bag less" sticker on it...

I purchased this item because most of the reviews were all good but that was a huge mistake! I did receive it fast but the windtunnel did not have all of the features that the picture and description showed. I called Amazon and they mailed me out another one right away but that too had the same feature missing. Both vacuum's I received had a black "bag less" sticker on it (right above the light), the sticker looked out of place so I peeled it back and noticed that there were holes in my vacuum, they were trying to cover up so I went to the site and saw there are supposed to be a red and green light to let you know if the vacuum is clean or dirty ( I think?). The 2nd and 3rd pictures show a close up of this feature..... that was not included in the TWO vacuums' I received. The description says "Some models may have cosmetic blemishes." They did not say that they remove any of the features they show to sell the vacuum!!

I like this bag less vacuum. It has good suction. I used it in my carpet floor and it produces 2 bag full of dirt.

This has been a great vacuum so far. We can do the entire house from one electrical socket due to the long cord. It has worked great for us!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Customer Service and a Great Product, April 26, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hoover Reconditioned WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum, Color May Vary, U57009RM (Kitchen)
I was hesitant about purchasing this reconditioned vacuum cleaner and when I received it in the mail a week later...well, it didn't work. My first thought was, "You get what you paid for". That same night I emailed Amazon customer service about the faulty product. Shortly after sending the email I was notified by Amazon Customer Service apologizing for the disappointing experience and was offered a refund or a replacement of another reconditioned Windtunnel vac. I decided to give it another try. It is a fabulous vacuum cleaner, I highly recommend it! I have two dogs and thought my rugs were cleaned well with my old vac, I'm still in ah at the amount of fur, dust and dirt the Windtunnel picked up from my "clean" carpet, the hand held power attachment for furniture is great too. Oh, and back to the custom service experience, the replacement was shipped out the next day and I printed a return mailing slip emailed to me from Amazon for the broken one which they offered to pick up or I could drop it off at a local shipping location. Overall a very friendly, smooth and positive transition, true customer service does still exist! Thank you Amazon for providing a service that is hard to come by these days.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love my new vacuum cleaner!, March 15, 2006

Granted I have only had it one day but wow what a machine! I vacumed with my old Hoover vacuum cleaner today before I left for work. When I got home my new cleaner was here so of course I wanted to try it out. It is unbelievable how much dog hair this thing picked up. We have two very small dogs. I had no idea all that fur was still in the carpet. It also is self propelled!

Just received this item today, it is pure junk. I wouldn't even start and I had to go through all the hassle of repacking and taking it to the UPS store. The item was also in very poor condition, it had been used a great deal by the looks of the wheels. Very disappointed with Amazon for selling something like this, however, your return policy was very good. Will see how fast the credit back to my account is!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Bargain!, February 9, 2008

This is a refurbished product, but it arrived packaged securely and in great condition. Only placed where I noticed any wear was on the wheels -- everything else (as far as I could see) appeared to be new. I was happy to see all the great attachments and couldn't wait to give it a test run. Well, it is powerful and almost glides across room. It's not supposed to be self-propelled but it feels like it. It does a fabulous job cleaning my carpet, area rugs, tile and hardwood floors. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

By the way, I recently saw this product in one of the discount department stores for $169.00.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good in upright mode, otherwise nearly useless, February 3, 2008
By

This review is from: Hoover Reconditioned WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum, Color May Vary, U57009RM (Kitchen)
The good:
When you're using it as a regular upright, it cleans well and the container is big enough to get the whole house done before it's full.

The bad:
When you're using the attachments and the hose, the suction is very, very poor. The brushes don't turn off when you're using the attachments so most of the vacuum's work is consumed in the wrong place. Also, since the brushes don't turn off, you shouldn't leave it in one place on the carpet, for example when you're vacuuming the stairs, otherwise it will eat through the carpet. This is by far my biggest complaint.
The vacuum is also quite heavy and loud.
Lastly, emptying the container is a big hassle. You have to take the top of the container off before you pull it out of the vacuum, otherwise it won't come out. So now you have a container full of dirt that's already open as you're trying to maneuver it out of the cleaner and dust is spilling everywhere. Dust also gets stuck in the divider between large and medium filters and you have to get that out by hand, it won't just fall out. Bottom line is, once you've emptied the vacuum, be ready to vacuum the area you emptied it in again...

Bottom line:
I would NOT buy this product again. Although it works well in regular upright use, the lack of power when using attachments and the user unfriendly way of emptying the full container make it more hassle than it's worth.

2.0 out of 5 stars I felt dirty after using it..., March 11, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hoover Reconditioned WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum, Color May Vary, U57009RM (Kitchen)
Well, I'm not sure what to think. I've purchased other reconditioned items before and been completely satisfied with how they arrived. This package came to me with a large hole/tear in the box and no packing materials. The front of the vacuum looked worn. I would not go as far to say that it had "other people's dirt" in it like another reviewer, but it was obviously used, though it appeared to have a new cord, roller and accessories. The vacuum was seemingly unbroken after its journey in the holey box, so I assembled the handle and read the instructions before firing it up.

We bought this to replace an older (circa 1996) Hoover Windtunnel with bags which had begun emitting burning odors and got very hot during operation. The suction was still good, but it was really time to retire it. The Y bags on the old Windtunnel always seemed rather small, had to be replaced frequently and seemed to be going up in price. I had been wanting a bagless vacuum for several years. Being satisfied with my previous Hoover and with a price under $50 we decided to go ahead and order this despite the mixed reviews here.

It is very similar in appearance to my old Hoover. As others have mentioned, this reconditioned model is missing the "dirt sensor" feature. Annoying, but I was expecting that already. This has a few additional features like a powered hand tool for cleaning stairs, etc. I was not particularly impressed by this attachment, and the attachment hose itself is not very long or substantial. The vacuum power of the hose is somewhat inadequate. With my previous Windtunnel, when I would use the extension hose it would have full power while in use and suction would stop at the floor level. This is not designed that way and has a much weaker suction. The vac itself is rather heavy and kind of loud, but again, I was not surprised by this, since this is the nature of this product.

Pro: The dirt chamber is easy to remove and put in, unlike other models I had looked at. It works very well and sucked up an unbelievable amount of dog/cat hair and dust. However, the small chamber filled up very quickly. The HEPA filter was positively choked with dust. This filter is located in the adjacent narrow chamber. The instructions indicate to tap the chamber against a garbage can to loosen all the dust. Probably more than half of it stuck onto the filter and in the recessed areas around it. I can see that this filter is probably going to have to be cleaned/replaced fairly quickly. The necessity to stop and dump the canister frequently caused dust to go everywhere. My hands were filthy. I felt like I had to take a shower after using it, not to mention my sinuses started to clog. I am beginning to wish I had gotten a non-bagless model...

So, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, this is an unbelievable price for a Hoover Windtunnel. It appears to be in fine working order. However, the dust chamber to me seems quite small compared to other models I looked at, and I don't care for the filter location and crevices around the filter which collect dust. (I'm not speaking of the pleats on the filter itself, but the locking mechanism that holds it in). This may be a caveat that these type of bagless vacs have, since this is my first experience with owning one. I have heard that these filters can get clogged, but it seemed kind of extreme to me.

So, I am really not sure whether I would recommend it. At $50, it may be worthwhile as a second vac or to see if you like a bagless. I'm not sure that I do after this experience.
