5.0 out of 5 stars Hoover Rules the Hand Vacs
I've had a Hoover Wet-Dry hand held vac for years, but the new one is truly a little power house. Cleans up the worst messes in seconds, and takes to a good cleaning in the dishwasher (non power parts, of course) with no problem. I wouldn't buy anything else.

This handvac did okay for me, which was to help me clean up cat litter and dust off our hardwood floor.

Its quite loud when use, but its probably make the same noise as other handvac. The exhaust is located on the side, which is nice so you don't get hot air blow to ur face. The clear, plastic tip is also use as the collection cup for the debris, which can be un-clip and empty over the garbage. It also comes with a wall-mounted holder which can be put together with the charger, so each time you put away the vac it automatically charges the battery.

The thing I don't like about the vac was the vac mouth only opened in the middle and not side-to-side, which means it only pick up things when its at the middle of the tip. So you really have to aim for them to get it off the floor. The power button must be pressed continously during use, also no indicator light to show you whether its charging or not.

7.2 volt is okay, but if I had to buy it again I'd definitely get a 14 volt for a more powerful suction.

1.0 out of 5 stars Short life span makes this a disposable vacuum, May 16, 2009
This review is from: Hoover S1120 Hand Held Wet/Dry Hand Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
This vacuum is the reason I am currently browsing Amazon in search of a great cordless vacuum!

I owned this for about a year when I started noticing that shortly after I turned it on, the power would gradually decrease until it was barely operating. The culprit was a dying battery.

I was informed, however, by my friendly vacuum dealer that the replacement battery for this vacuum costs nearly as much as the entire vacuum. So...my vacuum ended up in the recycling bin.

Besides the short battery life I experienced, I found this vacuum to have an especially irritating design: it has vents on the side of the motor box that blow air out. If you are trying to pick up pet hair from the floor, this can create a real challenge, if not an impossible task. I would have to sneak up on the hair most times to try to avoid the air flow blowing it away.

This small vacuum gets used more than any bigger one I have ever owned. It hangs on the wall in my pantry and is used in every room in the house. It is used to clean everything from dirt at doorways to spilled coffee on the counter. It is the handiest gadget I own. We bought a second one for our camper to vacuum the floor when we are not connected to electricity. Handy dandy machine.!!!!

I purchased this little hand vacumn for quick clean-ups around the house--grass and outside stuff that gets tracked inside, as well as around the kitty litter box, in corners where dust collect, in front of the fireplace, etc. It does all of these very well. My only negative comment is that it does blow dust when you are in tight spots.

I would recommend it highly and would purchase it again. The shipping was fast as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hoover Hand Held Wireless Vacuum, December 17, 2008

I love this little hand-held vacuum. It's lightweight, has good suction, and it holds a charge between uses. I don't leave it plugged in, as I've heard that it is a heavy energy user. So I just recharge it as needed. I've used it for both wet and dry pickups, and it's done fine. Also used it successfully to suck up a bug I didn't want to deal with.

1.0 out of 5 stars Overall I'm Pleased - Well, I was at first..., May 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hoover S1120 Hand Held Wet/Dry Hand Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I am updating my review of this product now that I have owned it for about a month. All of the disappointments below have simply gotten worse. The only reason I was previously overall pleased by the product was the fact that it at least had some power. The main reason for purchasing this handvac is to pick up unwanted kitty litter when the cats make a mess. When I first purchased this handvac it did quite a good job at quickly picking up the litter, but now after only a month it barely picks up the litter. I actually have to "help" the vacuum by using my hand to push the litter in a pile, as it cannot get random pieces on its own. I am very displeased with my purchase at this time.

I bought this to replace my Black and Decker Dust Buster that after a little more than one year barely picks up anything and has almost no battery life remaining. Overall I am pleased with this new Hoover Wet/Dry Handvac. Despite reading all of the reviews, however, I was not aware until receiving the product that you must hold down the power button to operate the handvac, unlike other handvacs that you turn on and remain on until you shut them off. I am sure this will prove to save battery life (the reason Hoover claims to do it) but after just a short time using it your thumb does tend to cramp up. One other surprising aspect of the product is the actual sucking area. On other handvacs I have owned the entire "mouth" of the handvac sucks which allows you to use the side of the "mouth" to get along tight corners. This handvac, however, has a one-inch centralized sucking area, so you cannot really use it to get in those tight areas. I was also very surprised at how loud the unit is while using it. It makes a loud shrieking noise while it sucks that drives my animals crazy. Overall I would recommend this product to others, but I wish I would have known about these features before purchasing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice little Vacuum, April 14, 2009
This review is from: Hoover S1120 Hand Held Wet/Dry Hand Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
We got this little vacuum for our wedding over two years ago. We have used it a lot and have been very happy with its performance. We have used it to clean up dust and hair cut clipping to kitty litter and concrete pieces. Recently the battery won't hold much of a charge. I was looking into getting new batteries, but the batteries are half the price of the vacuum, plus I would have to solder them together. $15 for batteries and an hour of my time would make it cheaper to buy a newer, even more expensive one. (If you would like to replace the batteries in your, they are "sub c" cells 1.2 volt. Make sure to watch out for 1/2, 4/5, etc sizes, they aren't the same). In the long run we will probably end up buying this same one again.

I won the Hoover S1120 Wet/Dry Hand Vac at my company picnic a few years ago. I used it regularly and at some point dropped it on a cement floor at my home and broke it. As I can't get along without a hand held vac for quick pick ups, I was delighted to find this model is still available. It does an extremely great job on all types of small spills and messes on both hard floors and carpeting.
