5.0 out of 5 stars Right for the Job (and a little more)
I purchased this vacuum to pick up the small stuff (e.g., cat hair, dirt from outside) in between thorough vacuuming sessions. I picked this one based on Consumer Reports' testing and ratings.

It does a good job of picking up the debris it was intended to pick up. And since I have hard wood floors, I appreciate the carpet and floor options -- it even picks up cat...

I was so disappointed when it arrived. We have a black and decker hand vac that is so much more powerful than this one. It picks up better than this Hoover! I am in the process of sending it back. I will probably purchase a Dirt Devil. We had one for 6 years before it broke. It worked great! I wanted to try the Hoover because it's cordless, but I'd much rather deal...

I purchased this vacuum to pick up the small stuff (e.g., cat hair, dirt from outside) in between thorough vacuuming sessions. I picked this one based on Consumer Reports' testing and ratings.

It does a good job of picking up the debris it was intended to pick up. And since I have hard wood floors, I appreciate the carpet and floor options -- it even picks up cat hair equally well on both. And it's so handy - I don't have to lug around the huge vacuum to pick up a small mess upstairs, I don't have to stoop to use the handvac, and it has a brush so it picks up hair much better than a handvac.

It sounds like one of the reviewers purchased this expecting it to be a full-fledged vacuum cleaner. It isn't, but I'm really surprised at how close it comes - especially for the price and the convenience. I even think it'd be an appropriate choice as the only vac for a small apartment with hardwood floors (I don't know if it'd be right for an apartment with wall-to-wall carpeting).

5.0 out of 5 stars Hoover's a hit!, June 20, 2000
This review is from: Hoover S2211100 Brush Vac Cordless Vacuum (Kitchen)
I love this little vacuum! When it arrived, I was concerned it wouldn't live up to my expectations as it's VERY light and sounds a bit pathetic when turned on. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised when I found that it does a great job on carpets and hardwood floors. Being light, it's really easy to carry around, and I found myself vacuuming the stairs for the first time in...er...quite a while, with complete ease. I love the fact that it's cordless as I hate having to constantly plug in and unplug the other vacuum cleaner. Emptying is a bit of a pain as it's bagless so you have to be careful not to send dust flying everywhere. However, all in all, it's a great tool.

I will probably purchase a Dirt Devil. We had one for 6 years before it broke. It worked great! I wanted to try the Hoover because it's cordless, but I'd much rather deal with a cord than not be able to pick things up. The vacuum is also built too close to the ground. If you run over things like beads or popcorn, it will just push them out of the way. You have to lift the vacuum over it to pick them up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for quick cleaning, May 14, 2000

This vacuum is great for the quick clean-ups when there is too much cat/dog hair or for picking up behind my four year old son's cookies. It is not meant to replace the weekly "big clean", but I have found it invaluable for those in between times when the dog hair is everywhere and guests are about to come over. It is also very light and my son likes to help me with the quick pick-ups. I love this vacuum and would recommend it for everyday use.

Of course it doesn't have the power of a heavy vacuum -- but how convenient for a quick, casual vacuuming through the house. Very light, no cord to fuss with. I haven't needed to run down the battery yet. Pleasantly surprised by its usefulness. Good on both hard woods and carpet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good buy; met expectations, August 8, 2001

I purchased this vac with the need of in-between weekly "big" clean ups. This vac does the trick. The head of the cleaner is kind of small, so if you are cleaning large wood floors (like myself) it can take longer than a broom, but the vac is so light, I really don't mind. All in all, would highly recommend.

I bought this vacumn for our 4 bedroom house, as we have trouble making time to lug out the larger vac. We have two cats and felt that the larger vac was doing a good job...were we ever wrong. With the Dustbuster type filter on this one, you can immediately see how much dirt your other vacumn leaves behind. I am seriously amazed at how well this vac picks up cat hair and dust, even from furniture.

Highly recommended in my book. We quit using the corded vac and just use this one now.

I've only used this product once, but I can tell I'll be using it in place of a swifter sweeper. My dogs shed alot, and a single swifter isn't enough to pick up all the hair. This electric broom works well at picking large amounts of hair from both hardwood floors and carpet. It's bag isn't big enough, nor does it have enough power to be a replacment for a regular vacuum, but that isn't what it was built for. It's very light, and strong enough to use for quick pickups of dog hair and other light dirt in between more involved cleaning.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hoover S2211100 Brush Vac Cordless Vacuum (Kitchen)
I bought this vacuum cleaner (two, actually) for one specific purpose, to clean up cat litter, and it does just that. I picked this model because it's cordless, has a long handle so I don't have to stoop, and has a wide nozzle so I don't have to sweep as much. The one real problem with this cleaner is that the nozzle is about two millimeters off the floor, so anything larger than that (like cat food) won't be picked up. If you try to raise it any, then the weak suction will fail to pick up anything at all.

This cleaner works better on carpet than on bare floor. I can pick up about 90% of what my normal cleaner can pick up, although I have to go slower with it. Overall, I'm pleased with this product, but it would be nice if I could also pick up cat food. That's why I gave it four instead of five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great little machine!!!, April 16, 2002

I purchased this vacuum a couple weeks ago, and I must say, it is just great. I use it in between the times I use my big vac.
I am just amazed how much dirt and hair is in the vac when I dump it. I also love the fact that it is cordless. I hate fumbling around cords. I originally bought a Bissel Go Vac and it was horrible, I ended up returning it. You will be very satisfied with this one!
