First of all, this little plastic tool should be included when you purchase the Hoover Steam Vac. I have dogs in the house and even though I vacuum well before using my steam vac, their fur still gets into those openings and there is absolutely NO WAY to get it out again. SO.....this little tool. Simple as it is I suppose it does a decent job. Hoover should be ashamed of themselves for forcing their customers to make this purchase. It is very inexpensive, of course, but just a hassle once you use your steam vac and realize "how do I get all that hair out of the nozzles????" But if you have the Hoover Steam Vac then you definitely need this tiny, plastic thingy.

People: Wire coat hanger. Wire cutter. Pliers. Cut longest length of coat hanger. Use pliers to bend a notch into one end. Gently thread wire up nozzle, gently bending it to create the same curved shape of the nozzle area. Use notched end to loosen, and then tug out, dirt and hair. Congratulations, you didn't just spend $5+ for a one-cent piece of plastic.

The clean out tool is flexible and does a great job of grabbing the dog hair that clogs in the intake. Really like it.

You could unsnap a plastic handle off of a box and do the same thing. I didn't realize it was so flimsy but it works.

Okay. So I purchased a Hoover SpinScrub several years ago, as I am a pet owner & therefore contend with messes on occasion. I Could Not Believe that Hoover would be SOOOO Cheap as to Not include this with my $300.00 Plus purchase, but I needed it, so I finally broke down & bought this from Amazon.
It's a flimsy little tool that probably costs 0.10 cents to make!! I tried it out immediately after it arrived & while it will pull some of the debris/ hair/ etc.. from the nozzle of the cleaner, it Will Not get into the creases at the side of the unit. Really ticked me off as I like to keep my appliances very clean. Anyhow, if you really have a lotta stuck debris, it's worth the few bucks I guess, but it needs to have some type of thin brushes or something on the edges to catch the rest. I'd really like to yell at Hoover for being soo Cheap!!! Hope they see this review.

I don't know why most who have reviewed this item didn't receive one with their steam cleaner. I got one with mine. O.K., it was 10 years ago. But you will need one if you didn't receive it with your machine. I have 2 dogs and their hair clogs my machine and now I can't find this tool and need a new one. I don't think under $4 with free S&H is bad at all.

The tool does what it says. It is a little over priced for what it is. It just works to clean the narrow area where the stuff gets sucked up in your Hoover SteamVac.

What a sham! The tool should have been included with the steam cleaner purchase. It would have added probably less than a quarter to the cost. To make people pay $6.00 is egregious. Save your money and make your own version out of a piece of wire.
