I bought this item from the HSN but then found it cheaper here on amazon.com (of course, DOH!). This is a perfect tool for cleaning up light spots on the carpet but does not do the same job as a more heavy-duty carpet steam cleaner. The pluses are that you can store it with the soapy water in the canister, and it is light and easy to manuever. I use it mostly to do spot cleaning; for example, cleaning up after my cat's furballs. It is always an event to have to break out the large steam cleaner, but this is an easy tool to grab, use, and return to the closet. The brushes on the bottom of the cleaner do not move (they aren't agitated), which is the norm with the heavy duty steam cleaners; however, I like this feature better for regular use as it will not have as much wear and tear on the carpet. I give this appliance 4 stars out of 5. It is a good supplementary cleaning tool but not a must-have.

This is the answer to most home owner's ongoing 'clean-up' needs.
Whether it's pet accidents or everyday spills...this light weight shampooer
hits the mark. You're much more likely to zip this thing out of the hallway
closet and catch those oops' before they become permanent 'I forgot to's'.
I've had more heavy duty shampooers but found them way to cumbersome
to bother with. And it doesn't leak!

As the mom of twin toddlers you can not imagine the things that end up on the carpet: juice, milk, ground in crackers/cheese, flung food, vomit, pee, and poo. No matter how much I cleaned the carpet by hand after an accident I knew I wasn't getting a thorough clean.
The vacuum is supremely light and small compared to other carpet cleaners I've tried and I wanted a vacuum I wouldn't dread having to pull out.
I just recently used it and it was simple and easy to use...is it strange, I get a thrill at seeing how dirty the water gets?
Just to point out, I recvd a defective vacuum the 1st time and Amazon's great customer service promptly sent me a new one. I returned the defective item which was simple and easy....that's my theme: simple, easy.

I like it!
I don't think it's a burn. Might take more than one time to clean up a dirty carpet...beer...etc..but we are happy with it. Hoover is a good brand!

just so so
Got the Hoover Steam Vac a few days ago and was not terribly impressed. It did an ok job. I had to go over most areas more than once. It also leaked quite a bit. Read more
