This lightweight (10-pound) plastic vacuum goes upstairs, downstairs, all around the house with ease. It slides tight against baseboards to clean carpet edges, and the handle lowers to horizontal for under-furniture cleaning (7-inch clearance). To reduce allergens, disposable triple-filtration bags (made of paper, foam, and cloth) fit the machine. Changing filter bags is remarkably simple, but to replace the belt and brush roll, a bottom plate must be pried off with a screwdriver. The vacuum is 43 inches high and assembles with a single nut and bolt (which are included). Hoover warrants the vacuum against defects for one year. --Fred Brack
