Don't let the price fool you...it does the job., September 18, 2005
This review is from: Hoover U5145-900 Tempo WidePath Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
This vacuum works really well. I was specifically looking for a vacuum that wasn't bag-less. Nearly all vacuums are now the canister type and thats fine until you have to empty them. For me, quickly changing a full dirty bag with a fresh clean one is much more convenient and sanitary. The bags provide high filtration to reduce airborne allergens and they are far less expensive than the special air filters some vacuums require. This vacuum is light and easy to maneuver. It provides different height adjustments for different types of carpets. It has an array of onboard tools which connect to a suction hose. Performance from this auxiliary hose is good but the hose itself is rather short for extensive vacuuming. I really like the performance of this vacuum, it works better than any we have ever had before. It's truly a bargain.

Great, reasonably priced vacuum cleaner., August 12, 2005
This review is from: Hoover U5145-900 Tempo WidePath Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
This was one of the smaller, cheaper vacuum cleaners recommended by Consumer Reports, and that was the reason we bought it for my son's studio apartment. We'd first bought a cheap Eureka, but it was awful, hard to push and didn't clean. This one is a world of difference. It cleans well and has good suction.
The one negative thing, which can be said of all similar vacuum cleaners, is the length of the hose. It's just a bit short to easily reach places unless the vacuum cleaner is right there.

Good value for the money!, January 12, 2006
This review is from: Hoover U5145-900 Tempo WidePath Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
We purchased this vac after owning previous Hoover products. We chose this model because of its value, and the fact that it uses BAGS, which are a superior way to collect dirt. (We'd rather spend a couple bucks on a bag rather than cleaning out some dust pail and changing expensive "HEPA" filters.) And although we have only used it a few times, here are some initial conclusions.
Positives:
* Great power. Who needs a self propelled vac when this unit's power pulls it along for you?
* Great Suction. Anyone with four pets like us can appreciate this unit's ability to pick up pet hair.
* Great value. I haven't been able to find a better vac for the money. Most vacuum cleaners are terribly overpriced anyway. (Can you say "Dyson"???)
* Ease of assembly. A Phillips screwdriver and five minutes is all it takes. And ours came preloaded with a bag, with another spare in the box. Nice touch.
* Bright headlight! I put this in here just in case anyone actually cares about a vacuum cleaners headlight! Still, it did illuminate dark areas in corners and under tables.
Negatives:
* You get what you pay for. Despite it's features and performance, it's still a $60.00 vacuum, folks. You can tell by the cheapness of the plastic brackets for the tools and cord.
* The cord could be longer. The power cord appears shorter than our 10 year old vac. And the way the cord stores on the back of the unit is inconvenient.
* The handle of our vac was assembled in such a way that the platic edge was quite sharp, right on the webbing of your hand. Ouch! Hopefully this was an isolated case.
In conclusion, we are very satisfied with our purchase and believe the unit to be a tremendous value. Highly recommended!
