Great Vacuum,
By Bailey (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hoover U5750-900 Windtunnel Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I just recently purchased this vacuum and I love it! It is very easy to vacuum, seems to move forward on its own. It has picked up tons of dog hair that my old vacuum missed, especially dog hair that was along the baseboards (has edge groomers). I love that it is bagless (which means no going to the store trying to figure out which bags to buy). The powered hand tool also seems to have the same strength suction as the main part of the vacuum (with other vacuums the suction seems diluted). My only real complaint is that the vacuum cleaner doesn't have an automatic rewind for the cord. Overall, I would strongly recommend buying this vacuum, especially if you have pets or children.

Cleans incredibly well, but one caveat!,

Like another reviewer, I decided to 'test' this vacuum myself . . .. I couldn't believe the amount of dirt it picked up, even *right* after vacuuming with my old vac (which, I had previously thought worked perfectly well)! I actually apologized to my family for how filthy the house had been (not really, but from the amount of dirt this thing picked up you'd have thought so!)!My only warning/complaint (and the Hoover booklet already tells you, but I missed it my first time through and wanted to 'save' someone else the belt if they 'miss' it too!): when the vacuum is upright and you're using the onboard tools (say, to vacuum the furniture), the main floor brush continues to spin (unlike my old vac where if it was fully 'upright' the main vacuum shut off and sent all power to the wand). Not a problem so long as you're aware of this and don't place it on the edge of a rug (where it burns the belt off trying to suck the rug up into the vacuum!). The good news is: they include an extra belt with the original packaging (so I didn't need to wait on shipping a spare)! So, it took a little getting used to, but the cleaning power of this thing was WELL worth it!

After first use in the house my husband and I had the same comment that some other reviewers made: why didn't we buy this earlier? It is amazing and frightening at the same time how much stuff this thing picks up. We have had a pretty powerful Hoover for years (madatory since we have a dog) but this one is the BEST ever. Initially I had some doubts about the bagless technology, but it is really nice, the chamber is easy to empty, and even the HEPA filter is no problem to clean either. As most Hoover uprights it comes with a good set of tools, and we bought the extra very long hose that makes a good additional accessory. Although not self-propelled, the machine moves easily and handles well. Like previous Hoovers it doesn't exactly whisper, but I believe it is a little quieter than earlier models.

Vacuum Buster,

This review is from: Hoover U5750-900 Windtunnel Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
Like many others, I hesitated in buying this one. I didn't know whether the price was going to be worth it, or not.MAN o MAN! Was I wrong. Why did I wait so long to make this decision. This is the best vacuum (even better than my older Hoover). I did a lot of research before spending my money on a new vacuum cleaner. So, save your time, and energy, and order this from Amazon.COM, where service is their number one concern. 1) Bagless means cleaness. The air around you is cleaner, and when you empty it, it is cleaner. 2) Power is what this one has. I don't have to use the hose to do corners, because its base is shaped to catch the corners, too. 3) On-off switch is conveniently located on top of the handle. No more bending! DRAW BACKS: 1) The cord still need be wrapped around the handle. 2) A bit heavy, because of all the accessories - but you can make it lighter by storing the accessories elsewhere; and not on the vacuum. 3) If you have kids, keep them away, or teach them that there are some breakable parts. Tell them that this is not a toy, and they can't play with it. This is NUMBER ONE by all means...

The BEST in the world! (no joke),

I have a 7 yr. old Hoover Commercial canister that hurt my back to use, so I thought I would try an upright. I vacuumed the house 2 days before I received this Hoover. As soon as I got this one, I put it to use. I HONESTLY cannot believe how much dirt, etc. that this vacuum picked up! I thought the house was clean, but boy was I wrong. I have NEVER seen so much dirt (in the bagless canister--which I emptied after each room--and in the Hepa filter) in all my life!(trust me) I LOVE THIS VACUUM! It seemed to pull forward all on it's own, the accessories are great, it really picks up the dirt. It is really worth it's price, and I will buy another if anything happens to this one.

This was great for about the first week that I bought it. It cleaned up stuff I never knew existed in my carpet. Then as the paper hepa filter began to get clogged with dust and other things it quickly lost suction. Banging it out frequently only worked for a while, then I had to purchase a new filter at $30. For the two years I've had this, I had to replace 2 filters a year. That equals $60. More then the $50 they claim you save annually by not buying bags.
It also doesn't do hardwood very well, sending the debris all over the place. It is also incredibly heavy, so for elderly people or folks who can't lift heavy objects, it's not good. On the plus side the selection of attachments is very good, and it comes with an extra hose for long reaches. But as the filter gets filled and the vacuum loses suction you'll see the tools and wands work less and less well.

If you are thinking about a new vacuum, stop your search, this is the one you want. Yes, it's expensive and even somewhat heavy but it is worth every penny. Like one of the other reviewers, I too vacuumed prior to putting this vacuum to use and THOUGHT I had the house pretty clean. The unit has a great see-through chamber where all the dirt and dust is collected. This is handy as you can tell when the chamber needs to be emptied. I had to empty it after the first use! I found myself vacuuming several days in a row mostly in amazement and had to empty it again several days later after finally getting to one last room. The attachments are easy to use and store away nicely although I would have liked to seen somewhere on the unit to store the extension hose, but where to put it? So, no points off there. Don't hesitate, but it now. You'll love it as much as anyone can love a vacuum.

EXCELLENT!,

I bought this vacuum based on the other reviewers' comments as well as research in Consumer Reports. You can't do better than this. CR has recommended Hoover Wind Tunnel vacuums for the past 2 years of record.Even though this isn't "self propelled", it seems like it is. Effortless to push and pull. Start it up and it starts to go. I personally wouldn't spend the extra $$ to get the self-propelled feature available in the other models. I don't think it's needed. Like someone else said, I think our carpets are a shade lighter after using this vacuum. And with 2 children under the age of 4, this vacuum gets a good work out. As crazy as this sounds, I almost look forward to using it as I see such great results. Great cord length. Only wish it had an automatic retractor when finished. Lots of cord to wrap up on a little hook on the handle. That's my only complaint, though. Someone else mentioned having a hard time getting the filters. Sears has a great vacuum department and I had no trouble getting filters there. Having had other brands of vacuums over the years, I'll stick with Hoover Wind Tunnels! You get what you pay for and this is definitely worth the money.

Great cleaning power!,

This review is from: Hoover U5750-900 Windtunnel Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I had been about to buy the Consumer Reports recommended vacuum (Hoover 6430-900 self propelled)but after reading the reviews, decided against it. So I read reviews of other vacuums and the 5750-900 had impressive reviews. After researching prices, I finally bought it.... It came with a power hand tool and extra hose. I made sure the store would take it back if I didn't like it for some reason and they said they would.I brought it home and set to work. Our carpet is just one year old and we just had it professionally cleaned one week ago and it had been vacuumed the day before. As other reviews have reported, the vacuum picked up nearly a dust cup full from the stairs alone. I think much of it was fuzz from the carpet being newer but there was a lot of dirt as well. I am curious to see what it does over time. I was not very impressed with the power nozzle thing for the stairs and just used the actual vacuum for the stairs. What surprised me was how I could vacuum right against the baseboards and it picked up dirt along the baseboards so I didn't have to use a crevice tool. I will be careful about it getting overheated or sucking up area rugs as several reviewers mentioned problems here. I thought the vacuum was easy to push, I like having the tools on board and accessible, and the extra hose. Overall, very happy with the vacuum.

The Best Vacumn Ever...UPDATE,
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hoover U5750-900 Windtunnel Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I was very undecided as to which vacmun cleaner to buy. I spent several months reading reviews, Consumer Reports and looking in department stores before I decided on this one. I can say that I am not sorry that I choose this Hoover model. This is the BEST vacumn that I have ever used. I just couldn't believe the power it has and how much dirt it picks up. The carpet was so much lighter after the first use. The carpet looks new again. How wonderful to use a vacumn that really works, and you get results from your efforts. The great fresh smell while using the vacumn is great. Having 3 seperate filters really does the job. With my old vacumn the smell was musty and full of dust. Now I don't have to dust as often. I love the extra long cord. I can vacumn without having to start and stop to find another plug. The powered hand tool is great for stairs and the car. As you probably can tell I just can't say enought about this great vacumn...If you decide to buy it you won't be sorry. |
