Great Product for the Price, August 25, 2004
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I have pets and was looking into buying the Dyson, a sales person at another store told me to look into the Hoover Savvy that he heard it is just as good and half the price. Well I can tell you I hate cleaning especially since I have dogs and can never seem to get all the hair up. Well the Savvy did it, not only did it pick it up, but it got the hair out of my baseboard heaters which has ridges and I usually need to use a stiff brush to get it out.
The vacuum is a little heavy, but I'll accept that for the power it has and the job it does.
I also like that it vacuums up the dust mites and other tiny things that could cause allergies, since I now have a grandson that is crawling all over the place.

Very good for animal hair!, December 31, 2004
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I have two dogs with long hair...a Samoyed and a Pomeranian, and I could never seem to get their hair up, no matter what I did. I had a mid-level Eureka vaccuum that ended up dying on me after only a couple years, and many times of being reconditioned. When you have dogs like I have, animal hair is a HUGE problem. I have borrowed several of my friends' very expensive vacuum cleaners, the kinds you get from door-to-door salesmen that are supposedly "the best" just to get the hair off of my floors. My mother bought me the Hoover Savvy for Christmas, and I am VERY happy with it! It is just as good as those much more expensive vacuums. It got up all the dog hair on my oriental rugs, that I used to have to brush out of the carpets by hand. This vaccuum has saved me a lot of time and frustration, as cleaning up dog hair was a constant concern. If you have long haired animals (or even if you don't) this vacuum is great, especially for the money.
Here's an update a couple years later on this vacuum:
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a COMPLETE piece of junk. Within three months of owning it, the brushes basically melted into a mound of goo. Since it was under warranty, I took it to have the brushes replaced, and within another month, it happened again. Of course I got it fixed AGAIN, but it kept happening. Once the thing was no longer under warranty, it was going to cost over 150 dollars to have it fixed. So I bought a Bissel to replace it...a vacuum that is MUCH better than this Hoover ever was, and half the price. But then again, I am one of those "weird" people that doesn't think high prices have anything to do with true quality...I guess I will never own a Dyson or a Kirby!
This vacuum just DOESN'T handle pet hair, or any thing else for that matter (like dirt) in the long run. And I have wooden floors, only needing to vacuum two area rugs, two to three times a week. I don't think that's too much to ask, really. And the brushes MELT in a month?? C'mon Hoover! You can do better than that!
In the end, there was only one good place for this vacuum cleaner, and that was on the curb with the rest of our trash. What a shame!

This vaccum sucks !!!!!!, April 3, 2005
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
No kidding it really does. Very powerful suction & tools that really work. Just got mine today & just finished cleaning. I have two birds & they love to throw food everywhere. This thing had no trouble picking up there seeds, peanuts, etc. Was great at everyday dirt & dust also. As with all things in life, it does have a down side. Very heavy & hard to push. At least on the "low" setting. If you're old & feeble, forget it. If you have alot to vacuum, it will wear you out. also the hose for the tools is not long enough. you're always having to pick the vacuum up & move it. And like I said. It's heavy !! However Hoover makes an "Extra reach hose" that attachs to the orignal one on the vacuum & that would possibly make things better. But Hoover is very proud of their "extra reach" attachment & charges $32 bucks for it. But I guess i'll have to buy one. All in all it is a great vacuum & if you keep in mind what I said, you won't be disappointed. It will definitely improve your upper body strength. Hope this helped.
