5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product for the Price
I have pets and was looking into buying the Dyson, a sales person at another store told me to look into the Hoover Savvy that he heard it is just as good and half the price. Well I can tell you I hate cleaning especially since I have dogs and can never seem to get all the hair up. Well the Savvy did it, not only did it pick it up, but it got the hair out of my baseboard...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great suction, TOO HEAVY!
This vacuum cleans very well, has convenient attachments, and it's amazing to see the amount of dirt that accumulates in the bin. (My rugs weren't as clean as I thought!)

But I had to return it because it weighed too much. It was hard to push & manuever, and I had a really hard time lugging it up the stairs. It weighs over 26 lbs. I am searching for another...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product for the Price, August 25, 2004
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I have pets and was looking into buying the Dyson, a sales person at another store told me to look into the Hoover Savvy that he heard it is just as good and half the price. Well I can tell you I hate cleaning especially since I have dogs and can never seem to get all the hair up. Well the Savvy did it, not only did it pick it up, but it got the hair out of my baseboard heaters which has ridges and I usually need to use a stiff brush to get it out.

The vacuum is a little heavy, but I'll accept that for the power it has and the job it does.

I also like that it vacuums up the dust mites and other tiny things that could cause allergies, since I now have a grandson that is crawling all over the place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good for animal hair!, December 31, 2004
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I have two dogs with long hair...a Samoyed and a Pomeranian, and I could never seem to get their hair up, no matter what I did. I had a mid-level Eureka vaccuum that ended up dying on me after only a couple years, and many times of being reconditioned. When you have dogs like I have, animal hair is a HUGE problem. I have borrowed several of my friends' very expensive vacuum cleaners, the kinds you get from door-to-door salesmen that are supposedly "the best" just to get the hair off of my floors. My mother bought me the Hoover Savvy for Christmas, and I am VERY happy with it! It is just as good as those much more expensive vacuums. It got up all the dog hair on my oriental rugs, that I used to have to brush out of the carpets by hand. This vaccuum has saved me a lot of time and frustration, as cleaning up dog hair was a constant concern. If you have long haired animals (or even if you don't) this vacuum is great, especially for the money.

Here's an update a couple years later on this vacuum:

Unfortunately, it turned out to be a COMPLETE piece of junk. Within three months of owning it, the brushes basically melted into a mound of goo. Since it was under warranty, I took it to have the brushes replaced, and within another month, it happened again. Of course I got it fixed AGAIN, but it kept happening. Once the thing was no longer under warranty, it was going to cost over 150 dollars to have it fixed. So I bought a Bissel to replace it...a vacuum that is MUCH better than this Hoover ever was, and half the price. But then again, I am one of those "weird" people that doesn't think high prices have anything to do with true quality...I guess I will never own a Dyson or a Kirby!

This vacuum just DOESN'T handle pet hair, or any thing else for that matter (like dirt) in the long run. And I have wooden floors, only needing to vacuum two area rugs, two to three times a week. I don't think that's too much to ask, really. And the brushes MELT in a month?? C'mon Hoover! You can do better than that!

In the end, there was only one good place for this vacuum cleaner, and that was on the curb with the rest of our trash. What a shame!

4.0 out of 5 stars This vaccum sucks !!!!!!, April 3, 2005
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
No kidding it really does. Very powerful suction & tools that really work. Just got mine today & just finished cleaning. I have two birds & they love to throw food everywhere. This thing had no trouble picking up there seeds, peanuts, etc. Was great at everyday dirt & dust also. As with all things in life, it does have a down side. Very heavy & hard to push. At least on the "low" setting. If you're old & feeble, forget it. If you have alot to vacuum, it will wear you out. also the hose for the tools is not long enough. you're always having to pick the vacuum up & move it. And like I said. It's heavy !! However Hoover makes an "Extra reach hose" that attachs to the orignal one on the vacuum & that would possibly make things better. But Hoover is very proud of their "extra reach" attachment & charges $32 bucks for it. But I guess i'll have to buy one. All in all it is a great vacuum & if you keep in mind what I said, you won't be disappointed. It will definitely improve your upper body strength. Hope this helped.

5.0 out of 5 stars just right, May 17, 2005
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I as well did a lot of research before I bought this vacuum. I looked and tried out the dyson, eureka & electrolux before I settled on this one. I had reached the end of my ropes because I was driving myself nuts to find the right one. I was ready to buy a vacuum and forget ratings. Well, I am completely satisfied. It is heavy but unless you are puny you can handle it. It cleaned my carpets like a dream. I no longer have to sweep my hardwood floors after I vacuum. For the hardwood floors ~ the only thing I found that needs to be mentioned is that when I change the vacuum from carpet to hardwood the brush stops. This did not pick up as well so I left the carpet switch on while on hardwood and it picked up great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Vacuum!!!, January 9, 2005
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
After much research we decided on the Hoover Savvy. It is an excellent vacuum!! It picked up dirt our last vacuumn has been leaving behind for years. The tools are very easy to use, and the bag is super easy to change. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for a mid priced vacuum that actually works.

3.0 out of 5 stars Broke after 6 months!, December 19, 2005
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
When it works, it works quite well and does a great job of picking up pet hair. However, as others have stated it is quite heavy. I am very annoyed to report, however, that I have only had my vacuum for six months and the small motor has given out and I've had to take it in for repair (under warranty) and am without a vacuum for two weeks. I have a 1000 ft. condo so it is not like I am vacumming large amounts of space every single day. The repair shop had loads and loads of bagless cleaners and warned me not to get another one so I would think twice before purchasing another bagless.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor suction, December 27, 2004
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
We ordered the Hoover Savvy Bag/Bagless through Amazon via EKithchenandGadgets.com on 11-22-04 and received it on 12-23-04. I could never get a status on the order and I actually thought we were ripped off. The vaccum is very poor when it comes to hardwood floors or cermic tile. I find myself picking up many things it left behind. I have been using it with the bag though. It might be better using it bagless. I am very dissapointed in this vaccum. I am sorry I got rid of my Electroux after 18 years. It preformed much better even with its age.

This is an absolutely wonderful sweeper! I'm not the type of person who gets excited about cleaning products, but this one is worth writing about. It picks up pet hair and dirt like no other vacuum I've tried. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hoover U8125-900 Savvy Dual V Bagged Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
We were really disappointed in this Vacuum. We did quite a bit of research before we purchase and after we found out Good Housekeeping recommended it as their top medium priced upright, we picked it.

It works great on the floor setting when used on rugs and picked up dog hair. However, it was so heavy it was difficult to maneuver. If you went from floor to rug and had to lift it slightly, it was near impossible.

Now, if you're a strong, agile young person, perhaps you would have no problem, but I'm not and I found the vacuum to be extremely heavy and hard to push and pull. If I used this vacuum, house-cleaning would be a real chore.
