Better than expected.,

I never would have spent this much money on a vacuum, but it was gift money received as a house warming present. I have owned the Savvy for 3 months now and I'm very pleased. The positives: option between canister or bag. (I get carried away and will suck things up like a shop vac - especially cleaning dry wall residue from the carpet after plumbers tore the wall apart.) I like that the little handheld roller attachment, it really helps with cleaning the stairs. Plus the extended vacuum hose attachment is wonderful. It does great on hardwood floor. I don't have things shooting out the side like my old hoover due to the fact the hardwood floor switch turns off the rollers. No belts!! Powerful vacuum. It cleaned up the dry wall powder better than I expected and I used both roller and hose for the edges. (considering we just put in new carpet - I was very happy.) I found the accessories easy to get to. Considering all the attachments are in a closed container on the vacuum, I never have to run around looking the that one piece that got knocked off and lost. Negative: I did notice it runs a bit hot and have heard to watch out for overheating. No problems yet. It could do better on the edges. It is heavy, but not much heaver than my old hoover. Clean the canister! If the canister screen gets linty - it clogs the suction. In the case of vacuuming up a lot of powder (like drywall dust) - I should have used the disposable bag for it. I only had one time in which the canister seemed stuck and difficult to get out, but that was due to kids playing with it. The problem never reoccured. At this time I am very please with the Savvy.

Everything you could ask for ......and more,

My old vacuum went out and I spent weeks shopping, and doing net research.I have a dog and kids, one with asthma, so I knew what features were important. I knew what I wanted, but couldn't spend $500.00. Well, this one has it all! Easy to assemble, with a screwdriver-just 4 screws, dual brushes, good suction, carpet to bare floor in an instant,HEPA filter, can be used with bag or bagless, easy to remove and empty dust cup, door covering the on board tools-no falling off during vacuuming-like my old vacuum- hose is long and while you are using it, your vacuum does not fall over-again like my old vacuum.I bought it yesterday, and have tried everything, I love it!!

I bought this vacuum and another at the same to really test out which of the two that I would prefer. Sadly, this was the one that got returned. Pros: Cons: 4. More expensive than other comparably equipped brands

Good vaccum,

I have to say this is a pretty good vacuum, and I would watch out what reviews you read on this web-site. Some of them are good, but some of them are not about this particular vacuum. For instance there is one that says it doesn't have a dirt indicator light, and it does. There is one that says they have had it a year, but from what I understand it is a fairly new vacuum. Sears has only carried it for around a month, and consumer reports don't even have it listed yet. Here are some of the things that I have noticed, and I have had it about a month, but I vacuum every day.Cons: There is a greasy residue on the compartments when you pull them out, but you can easily clean it off with a wet towel You have to watch out that you don't let the filter when you are using the bagless canister that it isn't totally covered in between the two halves. If it gets totally covered, even if the canister doesn't have much in it, it will overheat. When we tried to use the bag canister we found out that it wasn't sealed against the vacuum properly, but we took it back to the store and got a replacement. Pros: It has great suction. We have a lot of pet hair because we have two inside Husky's (we live in Texas so its hot outside.) and a cat. It gets up a ton of hair. We vacuum every day and you would not believe how much it picks up. Our old vacuum didn't get up near that much. You have to make sure to keep the filter clean though so the suction stays constant. The attachments are easily accessible and they clean our furniture wonderfully. It has an indicator to tell you when the carpet is clean. (This really helps if you every have your husband help you vacuum! That way he knows it's clean!) My husband and I both have bad allergies and it filters a lot of stuff out with the filters. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone that doesn't want to spend a ton of money for a really expensive vacuum, and not just a cheap vacuum. This is a good middle type vacuum, and a great buy for the features, and the performance.

This vacuum sucks!,

I have had this vacuum for over a year now and am unhappy with both the design and service. The vacuum has very powerful suction.

So what's the problem you ask, well with the carpet brush engaged the gears make such a high pitched and hideous squeal that you need to wear hearing protection.

The V tunnel is so narrow that the carpet fibers get clogged during normal use. I am not using the vacuum to do anything odd and I do not have any pets so there is no long hair. I have to remove the brush guard and use a wire clothes hanger to pull the fibers back out of the suction path. I literally spend more time cleaning the vacuum than the carpet.

When I informed Hoover of the situation I was redirected to a service center for repairs at my one cost. The vacuum isn't damaged it is poorly designed. I didn't use the device for anything that it is not expressly intended for.

Between the vacuum and the lack of interest on the part of Hoover I would not recommend this vacuum, unless you're a just sadist.

Costly repairs,

I bought this vacuum cleaner as it was advertised as beltless.. This was really neat as long as the warranty lasted.. Two months after my warranty( 1 year) expired, the brushes stopped spinning. I took it in for repair.. and the bill :-1)$70 for a gearbox ( the wonderful technology behind beltless) 2)$40 for labor.... Total without taxes :- $110.. Isn't that wonderful!!! So, in short, this is a great vacuum till it breaks down.

Hoover Savvy is Junk,
By
This review is from: Hoover U8135-900 Savvy Upright (Kitchen)
I bought a Hoover Savvy U8163-900, this is the same model, just with different attachments. The purchase was based on several reviews claiming it was superior to belted vacuums because there was no belt to break and automatically shut the head off if entangled. I had no entanglements that I am aware of and the gears still stripped out in the beater bar assembly at just about 1 year after purchase. Cost to replace and repair the mechanism instead of a belt was almost $100. I junked it and bought another brand. This is the third Hoover I've owned and they were all junk. Never again.

Maybe mine's faulty,
By
This review is from: Hoover U8135-900 Savvy Upright (Kitchen)
Maybe I should have mine adjusted. I came online to look again to see what people thought of this vacuum. I bought it from Amazon (no complaints there!) a few weeks ago. The darn thing won't pick up Cheerios, on either carpet or floor. It mashes raisins into the floor. I have a toddler (if that isn't obvious) and my old Hoover Windtunnel had no problem at all with any of those things. I miss the dirt indicator light but I'll probably get over that. I have wood floors and short pile area rugs. If the vacuum is on the lowest setting (which it should be) I can't move it. If I raise it up to the medium setting, it doesn't pick anything up. I hate it!
