5.0 out of 5 stars Best vacuum for pile carpet under $600
Best vacuum for pile carpet under $600 Nothing works up the carpet like this one. Had a Savvy for 3 years and needed a new one(this one does not say Savvy but it is a Savvy). I tried the Dyson what a joke could not even tell you had vacuumed . Buy these Hoover Savvy lines if you want your carpet well groomed. They will not last more than 3 years but you should get rid of...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy this
This has got to be the worst vacuum I have ever owned. It started out nice but within a month, half of the passages were clogged with lint, this vacuum does not have the strength to pick up dirt, it just fills the inner working of the thing until it doesn't work. I have had to pull the thing apart every two months to clean it out. This is the only way to keep it...

I got this vacume cleaner for my wife and she is very happy with it. It does a very good job. She loves the lights that tell if the carpet is clean or dirty. The kids like it also. It makes them go a little slower and do a better job. Loved the original bag that came with it but the normal paper bags are good also.

I have had to pull the thing apart every two months to clean it out. This is the only way to keep it working properly; I would not recommend any hover vacuum. This is a complete waste of your money

3.0 out of 5 stars Hoover good but not the best., March 8, 2009

The Hoover U8188-900 is pretty good vac. Pick-up is very good and the design is nice. The features include either HEPA bag or bagless which is a very nice choice if you happen to run out just before company comes over. The hose length and power cord seems to be average. The main complaint I have is the exhaust blows back into your face and is very loud. Fit and finish is again only average. My previous vac was a Kenmore Progressive direct drive, nothing compares with this vac, it wins hands down. The only reason I changed was because it is expensive to replace the brush motor. Over all the Hoover is only average, if you find it on sale I would recommend it, if not spend the extra money on the Kenmore I know I will next time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hoover windtunnel U8188949, April 13, 2011
This review is from: Hoover U8188900 Windtunnel Anniversary Bagged/Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
Worked fine for first year and 1/2. Then cleaning efficiency dropped off. Had to replace beater (agitator) brush. That helped a bit but still not to new condition.
Brush finally quit turning. Took it to the Hoover authorized service center two months ago. First they said the plastic handle was broke. Handle contains the power controls.
A month later and no handle yet. Hoover quit making that version of the plastic part. They used that design on a different model and dropped use of it due to number of failures. To save that cheap problem prone design the Hoover wisdom later put the same bad design on this wind-tunnel model. Due to the number of repairs (assumed by me) the design was scrapped for something different. The old style plastic handle is no longer available. No repair parts are now available per service center. Somehow they found a replacement part. It did not solve the problem.
Now Hoover wants to replace the printed circuit board that converts AC voltage to DC voltage to drive the brush motor. Another wait.
This Hoover wind-tunnel is still under warranty. It has been in the Hoover repaid center for over two months. Why are failed product repair parts now available.

I have always had a Electrolux but I am amazed with this vacuum. It is easy to use and easy to empty, it picks up wonderfully. I was stunned

that it was getting dirt out of my carpets that I thought was clean. I would recommend this sweeper to anyone. Amazon handled this
excellent for me.

I received a Hoover Windtunnel vacuum for x-mas last year from word from my sister-in-law who

cleans as her job. I loved it and then purchased this one for my second floor too!

I love it!

Love It! A little heavy and needs muscle to control but works great. Using either the bagged or bagless option is awesome.

The vaccum is quieter than our last Hoover. However, we still must mess with the cord and push the vaccum, it is not self propelled. Does a nice job of cleaning. Still bulky and clumbersome.
