4.0 out of 5 stars It sucks -- I mean, really well!
I have been very impressed with the power of this vacuum cleaner. My old Oreck (8+ years old) was just not cutting it anymore, and I read the reviews for this Hoover model and decided to give it a go. I'm picking up cups and cups of pet hair (that I couldn't even see going in) from carpeting that was supposedly "clean" from the Oreck.
Only complaint I have is that...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, not great
I was looking for a vacuum than would handle the "let's get rid of our winter coats NOW" shedding of my long haired cats. This vacuum does an good job on the carpets, but is disappointing on bare floors. Like nearly every vacuum I've ever owned, it spits dirt out the back and on to my feet and legs, so I have to vacuum over the same areas several times as well as...

Only complaint I have is that the Oreck weighs less than pounds, and I think this thing weighs closer to 30, which might be a consideration for those without upper body strength. But otherwise, I am pleased with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heavy and Powerful, October 12, 2009

My apartment has new carpet and my boyfriend's parent's 25 year old vacuum would just blow carpet fuzz all over the place. So we knew we needed a new powerful vacuum. That is exactly what this vacuum is. It's powerful and sucks up a ton of the new carpet fuzz. It is heavy but since I only have an apartment, that hasn't been a problem. And on non-carpeted floors, the dirt blows back at your feet and shins since there is no roller shut off. I found that using one the the brush attachments is the best way to clean my bathroom and kitchen floors since those areas are small.

This vacuum does an good job on the carpets, but is disappointing on bare floors. Like nearly every vacuum I've ever owned, it spits dirt out the back and on to my feet and legs, so I have to vacuum over the same areas several times as well as making sure I'm wearing long pants and socks when I vacuum. I like the big dust cup and bottom empty, but the pet-hair tool has lost it's power after just a couple of weeks. Overall, not a bad vacuum for the price but it could be better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Exactly as Advertised, March 20, 2009
This review is from: Hoover UH40020 TurboPower WindTunnel Anniversary-Edition Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Pet-Hair Tool (Kitchen)
Not a bad vacuum by any means, but the main reason I got this model was for this: "The cleaner also offers fingertip on/off control of the brush roll and motor" which isn't true at all! There is no way to turn the roller off on this vacuum, so buyer beware.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this Hoover, October 26, 2009

This review is from: Hoover UH40020 TurboPower WindTunnel Anniversary-Edition Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Pet-Hair Tool (Kitchen)
- I'm giving this a 4 star only because I thought the pet-hair tool would be more heavy duty. I can only use it on my cushions and pillows and you need it to be perfectly flat on the surface. But it definitely works!
- It is not as loud as my last one and the suction is great!
- I love that it has a handle to spin clean the filter rather than taking the filter out.
- A great buy!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars bad vac dont get it, May 7, 2009
This review is from: Hoover UH40020 TurboPower WindTunnel Anniversary-Edition Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Pet-Hair Tool (Kitchen)
no way to turn off brush. on hard floors the dirt just goes flying under the vac out the back end. Stupid people at hoover. make a button to make the brush variable speed. u need very slow speed on a hard floor or even on persian carpets. also it doesnt have the suction of a dyson.
