After going through 2 dysons, a bissel, and a Hoover platinum bagless in the last 8 years, I decided my problem was not all my cats, dogs and messy children- but the "bagless" vac instead. I did this get version at Sears since I could test drive it there. I have never had a vac with so much suction!!! I test drove the kenmores, dysons and new LG- but there was no comparison. You don't need an self propulsion on this model b/c once you turn it on, the suction is so great it moves itself across the floor. I know it's not super fancy like the others- but it's nice to have the brush on/off as a foot pedal on the base you can press easily and it's easy to just drop the bag out when it's full. Great job Hoover!

I was in the market for a new vacuum cleaner after my pathetic, yet very expensive, Dyson decided to call it quits. After extensive research and talking to family and friends about what they recommended I finally chose the Hoover Windtunnel T Series bagged vacuum (model UH30300). I am extremely glad I did. Nothing I've ever had in the past even comes close to this machine's suction power. Like other reviewers have stated this thing literally drives itself across the floor. I also like that it came with a full assortment of attachments, doesn't require any removal of screws to clean the brush/change the belt, was very easy to assemble, and even though it's lightweight it has a heaviness of great build quality to it. It doesn't have any fancy cord rewind or self propelling bells and whistles on it but that's just more stuff to go wrong/break in my opinion. If your looking for a great vacuum that will give you many years of great service (if maintained correctly) I definitely recommend this great product by Hoover.

As the title says, I'm very picky when it comes to vacuums. I find it hard to understand why vacuum manufacturers can't design a great vacuum - surely they use their products in their own homes ??? And if not, why don't they listen to customer feedback and design accordingly?

Ok on to the review.
Firstly, note that I've gone back to bagged vacuums. Why? Because I got fed up of emptying bagless canisters into the trash only to have the dust fly everywhere. Irrespective of what bagless manufacturers say - dust DOES fly around - on your clothing, your hands, around you - and it makes a terrible mess. So I'm back to bags - and loving it. Take the bag out (use the bags with the tabs on the end and there no dust at all) and throw them away - simple and no mess.

I like this vacumm for many reasons (although there are some shortcomings as we'll see later).

1. It is easy to assemble out of the box- it took about 2 minutes so no big deal for anyone. Attach the attachments in their various positions, place the bag (it comes with one free bag) in the holder and away you go. The body is plastic - but what isn't these days - and it seems sturdy enough.

2. The attachements are basic - hand crevice, air powered roller brush, and hand brush (for curtains etc). They work well - especially the air powered brush (which is good for stairs etc). They attach in various [positions on the front, side, and rear. But see below.

3. There is an on/off switch on the handle which is conveniently placed - as opposed to foot operated switches which can be hard to operate. There is also a brushroll on/off switch which is foot operated and I find my foot slips off sometimes. I wish this was also controlled by a swicth on the handle.

4.

I just bought this vacuum today for my small home which has low pile carpet/bare floors, but I think it would work well on high pile also. It has great suction. I choose it because of the windtunnel technology and the reasonable price. Also I wanted something lightweight with a bag. I hate emptying the bagless dirt cups- dust gets right back into the air.
It is easy to assemble- just attach handle and brush clip. I really like the rotating brush in the upholstery tool. It rotates really fast, powered just from the suction. At first it didn't rotate because I didn't have the bag door closed properly. This model has a no-touching-the-bag release feature which isn't that important to me and I hope it works with replacement bags. The bag that comes with the vacuum is a HEPA cloth-like bag with a rubber-type material around the opening. If the paper replacement bags (Type Y) don't seal properly, I will just remove the release gizmo and push the bag onto the tube myself.
So if you don't have suction, open the door, make sure the bag is in place and close door firmly.
I'm happy with the cleaning on the carpet. Only missing feature is it doesn't have an edge cleaner brush, but the suction is so good it seems to clean the edges without one.
It's easy to switch to bare floors but I did have to turn the vacuum off, step on the petal to turn the brush roller off, then turn the vacuum on again. The on-off switch is on the handle, and the foot petals are easy to push-you don't have to stomp on them.
Four and 1/2 stars.

I've owned, and still have my Hoover Convertible Upright since 1978. It was always a solid product. Bought this Hoover T-series in November 2011 after Hurricane Irene flooded my basement, since my Hoover Convertible was partially submerged, warping the wooden brush roll. I did replaced the roller and the old Hoover works fine. This Hoover Windtunnel has good suction power and has worked fine for 6 months until the brushroll on/off foot lever decided not to re-engage the roller after being turned off for bare floor cleaning. As a retired Engineer, I opened up the belt cover plate and pushed up on the spring assembly that the foot lever is supposed to engage, and the roller engaged properly. The roller will stay engaged, as long as I don't turn it off for bare floors. It appears that the plastic foot lever assembly is not strong enough to handle even moderate usage (6 months). There are strong springs engineered in the brushroll on/off mechanism that the plastic foot lever has to press against. I can see that even if I get this repaired under warranty (which will cost me $100.00 in gasoline and 6hrs min of travel time for two trips to a warranty center), the mechanism will probably fail again in six months or less. The plastic footlever should be made of a stronger material. Since I opted for this model over the base 'TEMPO' model because it had an on off brush roller switch (foot lever) for use with bare floors (and now can't use it because it's broken), I am disappointed with this product.
