Before buying this vacuum, I checked on Consumer Reports website to find the best solution for my cat hair issue. I was amused to find out the pet they used to test the vacuums ability to pick up pet hair was the exact breed of cat I own - a Maine Coon. This fluffy feline sheds fur everywhere. I would literally have to get down on my hands and knees to brush the fur from my area rug, despite owning a high priced vacuum. Anyways, after reviewing their website, I chose this product, and I am amazed on the results. Not only do I not have to pre-brush anymore, it picks up the fur pretty much on the first push across the rug ... Maybe I will not dread vacuuming anymore.

This doesn't need to be a long review. Basically, the main brush doesn't turn. The manual says you can set the height at the lowest setting. I have typical construction grade carpet in a new house. The main brush will not turn on the lower 3 settings. Once I raise it up enough to turn, the brushes are barely touching the carpet, and simple fuzz or dirt doesn't get picked up.
The culprit seems to be the on/off lever for the main brush belt. There is a spring in there, and it doesn't apply enough force on the belt to engage the motor shaft and brush. The lever is actuated by foot. I don't know why they don't have a stronger spring in there. I'm a mechanical engineer, and I am incredibly surprised this design ever made it to the market. If it wasn't for this HUGE issue (the main purpose of a vacuum, a rotating brush), this would be a good vacuum. I'm going to look for a similar Hoover, but one that you can't turn off the brush. Their method for switching is a major failure. I read one review of the UH70210 model, I believe, and someone mentioned the brush problem. That was absolutely serious and true. Save your time, and don't buy this thing. It kind of worked for the first time I used it, but I could hear and see the changing RPMs of the roller. The window by the brush is nice. It's good here, so you know your vacuum is not functioning. Get something different. I can't warn you enough.

Yes, I read many reveiws before buying. I have a friend with $400.00 Dyson. Dyson attach hose is longer & cord is longer. But for me I like the rewind feature over longer cord. I use a long reach shop vac for ceiling work.I feel the quality of this vac is equal to $400.00 vacuums. However, the truth is bagless vacs belong in area of dust & are always covered in dust. If you do not want dust, get a bag vac & toss the dust with the bag. Amazon ships fast & has always been fair in price & shipping.

Review for Hoover UH70200 - I believe it's the same unit as the UH70205, although just marketed or distributed differently.
I purchased this vacuum cleaner for my wife and have used it a number of times myself. It has worked very well for me each time I've used it - both for hard floor surfaces and for carpet of varying heights. We don't have pets, so I can't comment on it's ability with pet hair. I would definitely recommend it. The following are the features that I like: 1. light weight: Not too light (doesn't feel cheap), but it's easy to push through higher pile carpeting and use on / carry up stairs. Our previous upright (a Dirt Devil) was self-propelled and probably weighed about 5 pounds heavier...too heavy to easily use on / carry up and down stairs. 2. roller stop pedal for use on hard surfaces: Our previous upright would scatter dirt all over the hardwood floors as the roller kept rotating. Having this pedal to stop the roller while using on hard surfaces works great! 4. bagless: People love bagless or they hate it - I love it! Saves money and allows you to see the dirt that has been sucked up (also handy to see small parts for kids toys that have been sucked up)! 3. folding handle: Handle folds for storage...saving about 2 or 2-1/2 feet of height. This is great if you store it in a closet where coats are hung. 4. reusable filter: Very nice feature - dirty filters are a major problem with uprights. They're expensive and get dirty so quickly. The filter is easily cleaned and reused - saving money and keeping performance at a high level. 5. bottom of container drops open to dump dirt: Works pretty well, although 'fluffy' dirt gets stuck and can require you to pull it out. Can create a dusty/dirty mess sometimes if not careful, but would not prevent me from buying it again or recommending it - you just need to take your time so the dirt doesn't get dumped back on the floor. This is the only reason I didn't rate it a '5'. 6. auto rewind cord: Nice feature - I didn't need this feature, but it does work well and maintains a clean storage profile.

GREAT SUCTION - HORRIBLE CLEAN UP!!,

This vacuum is AWESOME when it comes to picking up the hair of our 2 Cats & 2 Dogs but....yes there's a HUGE BUT........the EMPTYING OF THE CANISTER IS HORRIBLE!!! The manual makes it look easy with a press of a button, the bottom opens up and everything falls out into the trash. IT DOESN'T! All of the pet hair gets caught at the top of the filter -- so get ready to put some gloves on to pull it out. On top of that, because you have to jerk it to get the hair out, dust goes everywhere!!
I would have purchased a heavy duty vacuum WITH A BAG if I'd known the canister would be this much trouble.

I really like everything about this vacuum - cleans really well - not especially noisy - not too heavy - maneuvers easily. However, the turbo brush holder falls off constantly - I find it easier to just remove it. I haven't had it long, but so far, I would buy it again.

I think that this is a great little vacuum for the price. I LOVE the auto cord feature. It works well, it was easy to put together, and it is not to big to store away. The handle folds down so that it is easy to store which I also love. Easy to dump out dirt as well.

Excellent vacuum. Performance is very good, powerful enough that I rarely have to do a second pass and just lightweight enough to be easily maneuvered. Noise level I would say is on the low side, compared to past vacuums Ive used. Best features are the folding handle and turbo brush. The folding handle does not give it a smaller footprint but it makes it less of an eye sore compared to other vacuums. The turbo brush is awesome and very effective around corners and carpet areas, I was suprised at just how powerful it was the first time I used it (picture a mini jet engine). Only problem was that it would fall off the vacuum constantly everytime I bumped into it. Easily fixed with a little crazy glue on the clip where it attaches to the vacuum. The main roller and the turbo brush is attached to a belt and spun by the suction power of the vacuum, very simple and clever design. The main brush stopped rotating on mine but it took only 3 minutes looking at the diagram in the manual to figure out how to reattach the belt. Also, from just browsing around the manual the headlamp looks to be easily replaced as well. Same goes for the bagless dirt cup and filters, clean up is no problem and the filters only need to be rinsed. Basically all this translates to is easy maintenance. Because of the simple design most problems are easily fixed right then and there when you are using the vacuum, which is a huge plus for me. Overall, the powerful performance, easy maintenance and cleanup makes it a great vacuum to use. Very satisfied with my purchase and highly recommended.
