I've taken this game to Board Game Meetups, so I've played with a varied group of people of all ages.

What I like about it:

1) not complicated to learn - most people pick it up very quickly, so people can get playing right away, but when there is a question, the rulebook is clear and concise
2) the cards are really easy to read - particularly appreciated by older players!
3) mission seem to be the right length - not too long and not too short
4) all the players are involved, so there isn't a lot of wait time when your players (or seal team) are daydreaming!
5) the included counter and health tokens make it easy to keep track of player/round status, so the person "running" the game (the Lieutenant) isn't bogged down with keeping track of everything and gets a chance to have fun too!

What I don't like:
1) from the perspective of someone who takes the game to meetups and local game cons, some people are put off by the box, while those who are drawn to it expect a more intense, or violent, experience - so I have to do some quick talking to get some people playing
2) there should be more missions

Overall, it's a fun game with a description that doesn't quite match gameplay.

There are strategy elements, yes, but it's definitely not a hardcore strategy card game and it's not totally casual either.

(It's a good gateway into strategy card games for people who might be put off the genre, but still fun for those who are not!)

While the game play is neat, there's very little theme in this one. You need a a lot of imagination to thinkvthis is a Navy SEAL team doing missions.

We bought this game for our two nephews. They loved the Navy connection and the fact that the game is a team game, meaning that you win or lose together. That's a nice twist to playing a game. They are also learning more about how many factors are involved in putting together a mission while playing the game.

This game is sexy from the inside out! The rules are easy to learn, the cards are stunning, and the gameplay is intense. HOOYAH is a well-executed, fast-paced game that maximizes your time on target. The time and energy put into this game shows the respect that that U.S. Games has for the brave warriors of the U.S. Navy SEALS and the special operations that they carry out in the dark of night, behind enemy lines while we sleep. Double check your gear and head over to the briefing room. There are evil people out there doing evil things, only you and your team can stop them! HOOYAH!
