5.0 out of 5 stars This is *the best* Spanish cd for young children
It is hard to describe in a few paragraphs how excellent this cd is and how much I like it. Ana Lomba has created the perfect preschool Spanish class in cd form. 2.0 out of 5 stars a bit boring
one person, one guitar. The songs are quite one-dimensional. The songs themselves are not bad, it's the recording that boring. It needs instruments, better vocals, and a more professional production. I've heard much better. For a more professional product look into Twin Sister Productions. They have spanish products that I like waaaay better.

It is hard to describe in a few paragraphs how excellent this cd is and how much I like it. Ana Lomba has created the perfect preschool Spanish class in cd form. Instead of the same dorky English-translated-into-Spanish songs that lack authenticity, Hop, Skip, and Sing Spanish uses real poems and games from Spanish Speaking countries. The poems are simple and singable, and are full of grammatical information that kids pick up on without trying. As an adult I need to see the written text (which is done simply and clearly in this set), but the kids just listen to it and learn it.

Each poem or game starts with a track that introduces vocabulary (think Pimsleur for kids). The next track has just the poem or game in Spanish. The sound quality is excellent.

My kids' knowledge and use (and motivation) of Spanish doubled in just a few weeks - after having studied Spanish for a couple years! I also recommend her book Play and Learn Spanish, which has different content and is equally excellent. I would especially recommend this product to homeschoolers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spanish of Spain, October 27, 2006
It was probably noted somewhere but missed by me: Ana is from Spain and uses the vocabulary and pronunciation from that country. (see: lots and lots of theta; a bit disconcerting for a latinoamerican type like me)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very engaging, December 31, 2006
This CD can keep a kid very engaged for a long period of time, unlike most other products, where the kid will lose interest in less than 2 minutes. The fact that the instructor speaks Spanish from Spain was also a plus, considering the shortage of similar products in US. Cannot wait for more CDs from the same group.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Spanish Songs CD!!!, February 9, 2008
As a Spanish teacher to children ages 2 to 5, this is the best money spent on a Spanish Song CD. It has so many simple songs with catchy melodies! Most of the songs fit within a theme (five senses, animals, etc.) which make it easy to find where and when you can use it in a class. If you were to buy just one Spanish Song CD, get this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for "Car Spanish", October 15, 2007
By
We're a homeschooling family with a bright 4yo and an extremely bright 8yo. Both enjoy singing along to this CD in the car. For the 4yo it is pitched just right, for the 8yo it is simple but still fun. Both kids sing the songs even when we're not playing the CD, and the 8yo in particular seems to be picking up some of the rules of Spanish grammar and pronunciation just by singing and playing the games. Some of the games/songs are better at home, where they can move around, but for the most part everything can be done seated. We have passed the time other places with the songs -- I need to learn them better myself!
You've got to do something in the car -- why not learn Spanish?

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful tool for teaching Pre K, K and 1st grade, September 26, 2008

This year I started teaching Spanish as a foreign language at the Elementary Level. I have used Ana Lomba's Hop, Skip and Sing with my Kindergarteners and First Graders and they love it! The activities are very appropriate; they are easy to follow, involve hand motions and body movement, are short and fun. The children remember the words from one week to the next (I only see each group once a week). It has helped me tremendously--I am using it as my curriculum for this age group.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST Learning Tools !!!, January 27, 2008

This fun, interactive learning tool is a must have if you want to teach and learn Spanish. I am a non-Spanish speaking mother of a five year old daughter and two year old son. We play the CD and sing, dance and play the games. It is great way to have quality time together as well.
We have so much fun with it that my children ask to listen to it!

Thank you Ana Lomba for making learning Spanish fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars From a teacher's perspective, a great tool!, August 21, 2007
By
My own children love this CD, and any of the games I have tried. It's an excellent resource for Spanish teachers, too, who need to spice up the lesson plans for the week, and allow the students to listen to someone else's voice speak the target language (Spanish!) My students (ages 3 to 18) sometimes would groan if I pulled out a CD, but not this one!

After a foundation in Spanish, this works really well. I think if it were the first introduction to Spanish, though, the students might be a little less than interested... as an addition, it's great!

Great job, Ana! Another fun tool that's well done and goes with just about any curriculum that has the objective of communication, not just memorization.

This enhances Flip Flop Spanish: Ages 3-5: Level 1, Professor Toto, Beginning Spanish Reader, and probably any other text book - all great for any parent wanting to teach Spanish, but aren't Spanish speakers themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for Kids! Excellent resource!, June 9, 2008
I highly recommend this CD. My bilingual daughter (Age 4) loves it, as do her monolingual English-speaking friends (ages 3-11). I will be using this in Spanish classes and will recommend it to parents as an additional resource. Each song/ game is in Spanish only (often with suggested actions or movements), providing an "immersion" experience. However, each track is preceded by an explanation and translation track, so that kids (and adults) can comprehend the words and song. I can easily program the CD player to play only the Spanish tracks when needed. Another great product from Ana Lomba!
