Confused,

I just got my CD in the mail today and I'm actually not sure what to say. I listened to it all the way through and it's so different from the first. I was expecting in your face screaming, and it's more mellow. Also, I didn't understand the lyrics to most of the songs. They are SO random. I'm not disappointed, I liked a few songs, but it's not my favorite.

East West's first cd was nothing short of amazing. But on the newest release you have Mike the lead singer singing off key. Yes this isn't demo ville boys, pro tools is are friends. Almost all the songs sound the same, if they don't sound the same they are just bad songs.

Better appreciation of East West,

I have to say that I was guilty of turning down this album at first. I was used to the Guinevere's Garden East West so therefore at first I was dissapointed because this cd is different in all aspects from the former. But after listening alot to this album it has become my favorite because I can tell East West really poured themselves in this album. It deals with alot of issues like depression that alot of artists wont touch. I guess I can relate better to this album than L.I.G.G. And the music is still heavy and good just like always. The Crunchy guitar's and awesome effects that they use are awesome, although the drum tracks sometimes sound like they are in a cafeteria, but oh well. My advice to those who are dissapointed would be to give it a chance. It is truly a great album.

Best CD so far,

East West has really done a superb job on this CD. The lyrics are original and exciting. The music is driving and crisp. The Light in Guinevere's Garden was great, and this is even better. I especially like The Great Facade with the chorus, "Where do you hide your wings?" I highly recommend this CD. If you haven't yet experienced East West, this is the place to start!

east west is absolutely, hands down, no questions asked, my favorite metal band ever. these are great guys who love their music and love our lord as well. through their music is such power and energy, after the light in guinevere's garden, i doubted anyone would ever top that, even themselves. but, what i have heard here, is beauty. hope in anguish is a much darker album than guinevere's garden, but it is better. one thing that i find wonderful is the absense of a lot of electronic sounds, it is mostly all raw intruments, and great vocals. this album gets 5 stars just because it's east west, however, it also deserves every star, just for pure, raw, metal beauty.

Awful......,

East West's "Hope In Anguish" is one of the worst CD's I have heard. Period. I listen to just about everything, but when a band abuses horrible power chords, bad drumming, and the stereotypical 'metal' voice with a bunch of 'dark' cliches, it just makes for bad music. This album just doesn't cut it, and it's enough to make me steer clear of the rest of their stuff.

The Light in Guineveres Garden is one of my favorite metalcore alums of all time. I got this CD because i wanted more of East West; while this CD isn't quite as good as the album TLIGG it still holds it's own and I really enjoy it. It's heavy, downright catchy at times but certainly not main stream or generic. I also love the diversity of East West's albums; The songs range from great melodic lines to growling and the mood of the songs vary just as much. just compare 'brutally wrong' or 'vacant' to 'the final say'and you'll see...
