This is a truely amazing story about the fact that miracles do happen. It is told from the heart and starts when the family received the grim news of Charlie's cancer diagnosis, she got down on her hands and knees and made a promise to God that if he spared Charlie's life, she would find a way to do whatever she could within her power to tell Charlie's story to renew peoples Faith and belief in miracles. She wrote the book FIVE years ago - and one month after she finished it - her husband left her. Neeedless to say the manuscript went on the shelf as she needed years to rebuild her life In April of this 2007, she reminded herself that she needed to fulfill my Promise to God. The book it truely inspirational.

I loved this book and thought it was a very honest account of the nightmare this family went through to save thier son. Anyone who is a parent or who has had to navigate through the medical system will aprreciate the struggles chronicled here. Basically, it validates the fact that when your child or family member gets a terminal diagnosis, you must treat it like a job; do your research, interview providers, weigh your options and don't be afraid to speak up as your loved ones life is at stake. I read this in 2 sittings and found it interesting and not sugar coated. You could feel what it was like to be this couple. A great gift!!!!

I received this book in the mail on a Saturday and finished it at about 2 a.m. that night. I couldn't put it down. This is a must read. Not only does it share with you the ups and downs of having a child who is ill, it also gives you hope that miracles really do happen. I have known this family personally and was Deirdre's son Jay's First Grade teacher in Masssachusetts. Having moved out of the state, I haven't had contact with them in some years, but I can tell you this...this is an amazing family!! Deirdre is an amazing person who I strive to be like. She is so strong and an amazingly happy and joyful person despite all she had been through in life. She hasn't let anything break her spirit. She's a fantastic mom. Her kids are unbelievable!! They are two of the sweetest boys you will ever meet. Both are kind, caring and empathetic. They get along so well together and Jay is a great big brother to Charlie. This is a family I will never forget and I am lucky to have known them for the short time that I did. Please read this book and support this family!! They truly are incredible people!!

Hope, Faith and Charlie by Deirdre Carey is an amazing story. From page one I could not put this book down. It is a compelling story that will have you engaged from start to finish. The book chronicles the Capodanno family and their journey to save their son Charlie from a rare form of cancer. It is at times heart wrenching sad but ultimately very uplifting. The fight for Charlie will empower you to never give up -- to never underestimate the power of love and prayer. It will make you want to hug your child that much tighter. It will renew your faith in the goodness of family, friends and strangers. It will renew your faith in God and show you that miracles can and do happen. It is truly an inspirational story.

"Hope, Faith and Charlie" is one of the most touching true stories about a loving, dedicated family who make you believe in miracles, who give hope to those who think there is none to be had and to Charlie, the amazing child who beat all the odds...and his cancer!
You can't help to fall in love with Charlie and his older brother, Jay. And to their parents, Deirdre and John, you can truly "feel" what they experienced over the first few years of Charlie's young life.
You have to read this book to really understand the true meaning of unconditional love.

This book was incredibly moving. I have to say that my copy is drenched with tears. Ms. Carey did a remarkable job taking the reader right into the heart of the story. I found this book to be very honest and inspiring. As a parent, it would be my worst nightmare for one of my children to suffer as Charlie had to. But, throughout the story, the Capodannos fight this battle with their faith in God, their strength of family, the support of the community and their dignity. It is truly heartwarming to see the goodness of humanity portrayed in these pages.

Hope, Faith and Charlie is a real account of what it is like to experience the possibility of losing a child. The book takes hold of your heart from page 1 and inspires you throughout. It is an intimate look inside a family's struggle with their grief and the with doctors, hospitals, etc.that are left to treat their child. I highly recommend this book to ANYONE who has a child. It definitely made me appreciate the blessings I have been given, but also made me realize that it could all be taken away.
