4.0 out of 5 stars better than the average soundtrack
If you enjoyed the movie, you'll like the soundtrack. I agree with the reviewer who liked Sheryl Crow's song "In Need" the best. It rocks a little, the lyrics and her performance of them are GREAT. Maybe her best song (tough to choose between it and "my favorite mistake" from the globe sessions). "To make you feel my love" is a really nice ballad by Garth Brooks (written...

1.0 out of 5 stars Hope sinks if you are misled on the CD
These reviews for Hope Floats are misleading. The reviews at the bottom of the page refer to the Soundtrack album with songs by Garth, Trisha, Dylan, etc., but in fact the CD in question at the top of page only contains the ORIGINAL SCORE from the movie and NONE of the songs by various artists. This is outrageous and should be fixed immediately. I waited for a week to get...

"To make you feel my love" is a really nice ballad by Garth Brooks (written originally by Bob Dylan). It might even make you think country music might be OK (I do). I had a tough time listening to the stones song, but it grew on me after a while. Bob Seger and Martina Mcbride sing a nice duet that you'll like if you like Seger's ballads. Trisha Yearwoods version of "to make you feel my love" should have been left off the soundtrack. I love Trisha, and the minimalist treatment of the song may have been needed for the movie, but it pales SO badly to Garth's version. If you are into "today's country", this is a must have. If you are a Sheryl Crow fan, you need it for her song alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grusin's score does more than "Float"....it soars...., November 10, 2003
By
Betty June Moore (Douglas, Georgia USA) - See all my reviews
RCA's Hope Floats soundtrack album, featuring Dave Grusin's original score for the 1998 feature film starring Sandra Bullock, Harry Connick, Jr. and Gena Rowlands, not only brings scenes from the movie to my mind, but also works well as a purely musical creation. Heartwarming, romantic and even jaunty, Grusin's cues are reason enough to add this album to any music lover's CD library.

Although all 11 tracks on this album are superlative, the ones I like best are Grusin's instrumental cues "Going Home," "Justin and Birdie," "Time to Get Up," and "Ramona's Last Story."

There are also unlisted tracks of songs covered by Garth Brooks ("To Make You Feel My Love"), Byan Adams ("When You Love Someone") and Deana Carter ("What Makes You Stay").

All in all, this a great album to just listen to, even if you did not see the movie.

Betty June Moore

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD and movie, March 25, 2001
By A Customer
The CD and movie came out at a very good time for me. I was at a crossroad in my life and this movie (and the music) helped me through an extremely difficult time. The music is great. I love all the songs, especially Chances Are by Bob Seger and Martina McBride (my husband and I danced to it at our wedding). I agree with the one review that Klennex are a must and this CD and movie are perfect for anyone who has fallen out of love and has found a greater love waiting for them!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the movie, love the soundtrack, April 13, 1999
By A Customer
I have been enjoying this CD. I agree with the other reviewer: the Sheryl Crow song is great but I wonder why the Rolling Stones are on there. These songs are a cross between country and pop love songs. Very easy listening but not annoying. I esp like the "Stop in the Name of Love" version. Buy it and enjoy it!

I didn't know this was the background music, I wanted the CD with the artists singing.
