Get "Hope-Full",
By Michael B. Richman (Portland, Maine USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Hope Full (Audio CD)
Elmo Hope's "Hope-Full" is another one of my Fantasy/OJC warehouse clearance sale finds on the Oldies/Collectables website. It features the underrecognized pianist in solo and duo performances originally made for the Riverside label on November 9 & 14, 1961. Hope plays an even mix of originals and standards, five unaccompanied and three piano duets with wife Bertha. The numbers alternate between introspective and jovial, but they are all lovingly brought forth from the fingertips of a true master. If you find this now OOP CD as inexpensively as I did, then it should definitely be time to get "Hope-Full."
