I have a cocker and found she had hepatitis quite by accident (she didn't act ill). Over the next two months her condition deteriorated despite multiple trips to the vet. She had lost 7 pounds and wouldn't eat. I took her to a specialist vet who gave me a very grave prognosis. I decided with nothing to lose I would give this book a try. Six months later her blood work was completely normal and she acted like a puppy again. Now it has been one year and you would never know that she is ill. I have her on the stew recipe and even put my other dogs on it as I knew even though they weren't ill it was better for them than store bought dog food with all the chemicals, etc. I have noticed such an improvement. Coats are better, temperment is improved. Plus happy and playful. Thanks Cyndi for writing this book I know you saved this dog's life.

I have a 4 year old ausie sheperd/heeler mix that we just found out has advanced liver disease. The vet thinks that the rancher that we rescued her from had poisoned her. I read the book the day I received it and have followed the menu for about a month. I had her blood tested and the results were amazing, her levels show that the disease is in a holding pattern and that she seems to be getting better. I shared the book with her vet and she thought the book was "great" and that I should follow the tips in order to make my dogs life better. This has been the best investment that I have made. If it helps my "Abby" to live longer, it's the BEST!!

Avoid buying. On page 33 the book suggests giving your dog "raisins" in the Foods that Heal section. Raisins can be toxic to some dogs, particularly small ones; could even cause death. Don't believe me, confirm this "fact" with your Veterinarian. Book does a nice job making up for this negligence by absolving the author of all responsibility in the Legal Notice section at the beginning of the book, Section's v and xiii.

If you're looking for answers and solutions to helping your pup get through liver issues read this book. If you've been told by your vet that your dog has to be on medication and prescription food for the rest of its life, read this book. Cyndi Smasal has compiled a lot of information here. She even has a web site (noted in the book) where she posts updates, etc. A true labor of love.

I also had a cocker spaniels who was diagnosed with liver disease (cirrhosis of the liver). I read the entire book looking for a solution and become very hopeful as the author was able to extend her pet's life for two additional years. Unfortunately, my story did not have the same ending. His life was only prolonged for 10 more weeks and I am not sure if it's because of the things I followed based on the book. As my Vet had already told me that Buddy had days/weeks/maybe months but not years. I bought this even though I was told this and had faith if I followed this it may help prolong his time with me. I gave it a 3 star because it did not help my situation but it still may help someone else. It's worth a try! I will be donating the book to Library

Two years ago my beloved dog was sent home to die when her liver began failing after a series of emergency surgeries and heavy medication. Our vets held out no hope for us. I found this book online and started the basic protocol Cyndi outlines. Today our vets are astounded, her liver values are almost back to the normal range and her health continues to improve. I cannot stress enough how important this book is for dealing successfully with - and surviving - liver disease and liver-related conditions.
