About the Author

JAN MEYERS has been a licensed professional counselor since 1993 and currently counsels at the Barnabas Center in Charlotte, North Carolina addressing women’s lives through the journey of their heart. She specializes in issues of sexual abuse, gender struggles, and marriage counseling within those contexts. Jan previously worked in Southern Africa and has been involved in training for cross-cultural living and ministry. Allure of Hope is her first book.

KAREN LEE-THORP is a freelance writer. She coauthored the Designed for Influence series with Carol Kent, and has written many other books, including How to Ask Great Questions, Why Beauty Matters, A Compact Guide to the Christian Life, and A Compact Guide to the Bible. Karen and her husband, Greg, live in Brea, California.

This is a great guided journal. We used it as a small group guide, but it is a great personal journal. The content is great (it draws you out in a comfortable way), but the cover is really disappointing. The cover doesn't reflect the content of the Allure of Hope at all.

This is basically a good journal, but I found the questions to be guiding me to the point where the author wasn't allowing me to think for myself. The questions are written in such a way so as to lead you to a specific conclusion. It seemed that if I didn't answer a question the way the author expected me to, then the next question didn't really make any sense. I got through about 3 pages and gave up!
