Hope, Colonna & swinging music lift your spirits,

If you laughed with Bob Hope in his "Road" movies (with Bing Crosby & Dorothy Lamour), you will definitely enjoy this 12 CD collection of Bob Hope radio shows. Hope's ensemble cast was one of the best on radio - probably only surpassed by the cast of the Jack Benny Show. With wise cracks delivered by the outrageously funny Jerry Colonna and the smarmy announcer Bill Goodwin, these 24 radio programs lift your spirits. They also send you back in time, thanks to Hope's opening monologues, which were always topical. Swinging musical arrangements and guest singers like Judy Garland also keep these shows jumpin'. While all of these shows are great fun, I find myself listening again and again to the earliest shows - when the back drop of World War II made Hope's quips particularly poignant.
