Book Description

Hope is the first book of The Hope Saga.
Hope II Dimensions and Hope III The Tappers are also available.
Hope IV Point Of Entry will be available in 2013.

Peace has prevailed across the Milky Way for millions of years. Earth is at the dawn of the atomic age and new global powers are emerging, their conflicting ideologies vying for dominance of the planet. Not only Earth’s peace but perhaps the stability of the entire galaxy is threatened.

Jack Norton is an idealistic boy growing up in the south coast English town of Torquay just after the Second World War. His wartime experiences and general disappointment with humanity convince him he has to work for peace. From a very young age, he has somehow known he is destined to make a difference. Jack’s life is turned upside down when his chance to make a difference arrives, literally out of the blue.

Hope is the story of young Jack Norton’s adventure as he is swept up in the struggle between mighty galactic forces. The allies of peace have been caught out by the swift resurgence of one of the most aggressive empires to ever exist. Can Jack make a difference and help his new friends save the galaxy?

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy Unleashed September 28, 2012

I have read many author's on sci-fi and this new author is really on to something!!!!!! I read this book in 2 days! I couldn't put it down. I did not find the part of Jacks' school days long winded and the shifting between these story changes just lends to the mystery.
I couldn't wait until I downloaded Hope II and I stayed up all night reading that also!

The only problem I had with the book was the British use of some words; this tended me to stop and wonder if I was reading correctly or if I had forgotten how to spell. Thankfully my Kindle Fire has the built-in dictionary and highlighting the word I found it easily. Thanks to Mr. Arnold for such a creative mind. Kudos to you Sir!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Galactic Saga August 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a saga akin to those you can read by Asimov and others and starts in the far reaches of the Milky Way. It finally ends back on earth but doesn't really end. The story leaves the reader hanging if the ships that escaped will return and if the stuff the ship sprinkled over earth will do anything. I guess that's why there's a 2nd book.

The writing style is YA and sometimes reads as a high school creative writing assignment but is easy to follow and read. I found the section describing Jack's activities on earth during his school years a bit tedious and seemingly unrelated to the beginning of the book. I started scanning forward to see if the story would come back around to the conflicts between the various cultures in the Milky Way when I found that it would. I found this clever but long winded.

I enjoyed the story. It's easy to read (no major errors or formatting issues) and it's not too challenging.
