Hope for Today Bible

I was introduced to the works of Norman Vincent Peale many years ago. NVP offered many of the same prescriptions back in the WWII era. That was a difficult time for America. And God raised up a man for a time like that. Today, America is again in a difficult period. And God has given us another inspiring preacher who has tapped into our current problems, and given us hope and the power to overcome them. Joel Osteen and wife Victoria have created an amazing resource that addresses every conceivable topic and problem in a way that is fresh and grounded in God's Word. The layout of this Bible is impressive. There are so many helps and annotations that you can't help but be inspired. The choice of the NLT was smart as well. It makes Bible reading easier without dumbing down the language. It also makes studying these concepts much more enjoyable. Osteen's critics like to rail against his preaching style, or the lack of Biblical teaching. I have found no evidence that this is true. Osteen grounds his teaching in the Scriptures. He's the most popular preacher in America, so he's a target. Well, he's the wrong target. God is using Lakewood Church and the Osteens to bless and help many people.

This new Bible is the best I have seen. I love the Hope Notes they are just the perfect thing to give me a lift when I need one. And help to get my perspective back in line. Highly recommended! It is made simple.

Joel Osteen and his team have made a difference in my life and how I nourish my spiritual needs. He has made me stronger and far better equipped to deal with the challenges in my life.

As an owner of many bibles, I really like this one. The translation is very clear and easy to understand. I also enjoy the notes and devotions
included by Joel and Victoria Osteen. Their comments are very uplifting
and inspirational for me and help keep me on track as a Christian. If you
purchase this bible, you won't be disappointed. It would also make a great gift.

I am a huge fan of the Osteens and I was happy to hear about thus Bible. I love the way it is broken down into ways the average person can understand. Everything is straightforward and the added notes from Joel and Victoria help to give you something extra to think about and to learn from. This is a great addition for any positive thinking person who is also trying to grow closer to God and the understanding of his word. My husband and I love this Bible

This is an easy to read and understand as you can get. It is written in "regular" language with all the "these and thows" taken out.It also has inspirational messages and expalins certain passages threw out the entire bible. It is extrmly well written and true to the original Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic original translations. An easy and insperational read to be read over and over again.

I just purchased this and have not thoroughly read the entire book yet, but Joel makes it easier to read and understand.
I always wanted to read the Bible but felt overwhelmed at the thought of doing so.

Pastors Joel & Victoria Osteen has done a wonderful job on creating this Bible that offers Hope, Encouragement, Love and Life! There love and their heart for the Lord amazes me and sure blesses my heart of them simply giving the truths and understanding of what all the Lord has shown them by spreading it to the body of Christ. I commend them very much for there deep devotion to the Lord and there hearts for the people by loving them and showing them our rights of being Children of God! I love all the notes and background insights that are spreaded all over the Bible from OT to NT. They also have created a Bible Reading Plan for the 365 days in the year and another section of One Year In The Life Of Jesus Reading Plan. This Bible contains a wealth of information and it gives us the tools to live a wonderful life with the Lord and also helps us to communicate our faith by sharing it with others of the love of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I am very impressed and my Heart is so touched by this Bible as well as the ministry of Lakewood Church that is impacting this world with the love and teachings of Jesus Christ. I am inspired of the deep work commitment that Pastor John & Dodie Osteen have dedicated their life's to the Lord and as a result, the Lord has increased Lakewood because HE knows that it is good seed ground and that they freely give away of what the Lord has given them. I truly give them a spiritual salute.

This Bible is what it says it is. A New Living translation Bible, with notes and encouragement by Joel and Victoria Osteen. It's probably designed for people that attend Lakewood Church, or have a sympathy in that direction. But anyone could buy it and enjoy it.

I watch Joel Osteen and I like his messages. He's not theologically perfect, but nobody is. If you're looking for that, just buy a plain Bible without any extras, and good luck. Personally I like the extras in this Bible. And I wouldn't have a problem giving it or recommending it to any Christian of any denomination. I don't think it would offend anyone and the encouragements are such that, a lot of people now would likely be very blessed by them. People need encouragement.

The print type is 12pt and easy to read, with ample space to annotate. The intros and insets are well done. There are lots of helps, reading plans, prayer sections, etc. but for all of that, it's not a huge, heavy Bible. The people at Free Press did an excellent job with design and I enjoy reading it.

I will say that I'm not a huge fan of New Living Translation, but I've at least 25 bibles that I can cross-compare if I wanted to. And, despite that, I've found that many of the NLT passages spoke to me anew because I was open to hearing them expressed in a new way. After reading it for a month or so, this bible has won me over. I rarely use or refer to the others.

It would be an excellent purchase for long-time Christians, or brand new Christians. Probably not good for anyone that's hyper-sure their theology is perfect and the only way to heaven, or has a problem with non-KJV bibles. For teachable, reachable, curious people who believe Good News is what Christ came to bring, it's an excellent jumping off point for study, devotional reading, and conversation!
