Book Description

After returning home from Romania, and successfully saving her best friend Lilly, Eden Matthews must now come to terms with her future as an Immortal. She is in love with the Crowned Prince, but he is betrothed to someone else.

Her family desperately wants her to join their rebellion, but that would mean fighting against her one, true love, Kiran Kendrick. She must fight off assassins that want her dead, an Immortal rite of passage that takes her to India and a deadly disease that no one has thus far survived. Danger seems to lurk around every corner as Eden Matthews struggles to keep her true identity a secret and protect those that she loves.

Eden must find a way to be with Kiran, or turn her back on him forever and fight to save her people. Hopeless Magic is the second installment of the Star-Crossed series.

Editorial Reviews

Twists and turns are what this book is all about. Rachel knows what she is doing and her books are proof of that. I am addicted to her magic wielding characters and her crazy world she invented for them. --Mandy from I Read Indie book blog

This was a great second book. It had a more serious nature than the first, but i still could't put it down. It has a shocking ending that has you shedding a few tears and frustrated that you have to wait for the next book. I will recommend this book to everyone!

This series so far has not let me down! I love it! So far this is the best series in my whole kindle experience. I got the first book because it was free, and now I am hooked. This is the first book I have ever bothered to pay real money for since I started reading book off of my kindle and it was worth every cent. I can't wait till the next book comes out and I will gladly pay for that one as well.

Well I must say that I am so surprised with this series..I downloaded the first book for free. I was caught up in this world and as I neared the end..I searched for the second book and bought it right away. I shamelessly dove right in immeidately! The second book just kept me up and down with emotions. I laughed, cried, was angry and hopeful so many times throughtout the book. I am not one to give spoilers but I just had to gush over this series and this author's talent. What a beautiful creation she has placed in front of all of us,to be swept into this world and feel the emotions, raw, from all of the you!! I am anxiously awaiting the October release for book three!

5.0 out of 5 stars Holy freakin cow - BEST SERIES EVER September 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you are reading this review, then I am going to assume you have read the first book (Reckless Magic).

Reckless Magic was a GREAT start to this series. Now, with Hopeless Magic, the story continues to keep you captivated and second guessing who you want Eden to be with - Kiran or Jericho?

Here is the thing about the Star-Crossed Series - you cannot tell from the first book or the first 3/4 of the second book (Hopeless Magic) that this is actually a 'serious', almost grown-up, edge of your seat kind of story. Reckless Magic is very light and fun, high school kind of stuff, and that continues into Hopeless Magic. HOWEVER...this ALL changes at the end of Hopeless Magic. The story and feel of the story shifts, and you are left with your mouth gaping open, heart clenching, and practically tears escaping.

The emotions that you experience starting at the end of this book are so enthralling, that I would have practically done ANYTHING to begin reading the 3rd book, Fearless Magic, the moment I ended Hopeless Magic.

I 200% recommend reading this book, after Reckless Magic, and I don't even need to say continue reading the series with Fearless Magic and Endless Magic, because once you finish Hopeless, you will HAVE to keep reading.

You won't be disappointed - Rachel's way of writing and describing emotions is so amazing, you literally feel what the characters feel, and the overall story is SO unique, I can't help but feel so much respect for Rachel as a writer and her amazing mind. How did she come up with this story? It is SO freakin good!!! I just want everyone to read this series and see how superior it is to others like Twilight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hopelessly Discreet October 5, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
First thoughts:

Where do I start? Compared to the first installment in this saga this one was much more reachable; more deep. The emotions in this book was outstanding, the writing was so precise that I actually empathized with Eden. I could actually feel the emotions she was going through and boy were there a lot. The point is, "Hopeless Magic" is a book like no other and be warned, compared to the first book this one is totally different but in the best possible way.

Lilly is finally back but things aren't better. Eden is the middle of two guys fighting over her and trying to keep her idenity a secret even from the man she loves the most. But soon Sabastian is introduced "Kiran's cousin" and he is there on terms that only he knows. But when he discovers that Eden was raised by human and hadn't done the traditional "Eternal Walk" she is sent to India to do just that. But the resistance and her twin brother are skeptical, thinking Luthern the king has plans of his own to take Eden.

Eden is forced to travel, she can't not speak a word till the task is complete and she was walk through the cave to finish her task but she worries her real identity will be revealed and is scared of the outcome.

Throughout this book Eden is put on trial after trial and not until the last few chapters does she discover the biggest trial of all.

Last thoughts:

You really have to appreciate this author on how she is beautiful with words and knows how to change the plot even more and make it better. I never knew this book could be better than the first but I was allowed to see sides of the characters that I hadn't been granted access to before. This is definately a more emotional read and advise if read to be far warned. What you read from this book is something you can cherish to yourself and perhaps learn a thing or two.
