This is a good cookbook to own if you also own several other, more comprehensive cookbooks. The recipes I have tried are all good, but obviously similar in taste due to a common main ingredient. There is an interesting introductory section entitled "The Mushroom Varieties" in which several types of mushrooms are illustrated and discussed. Unfortunately, not all of the types are pictured. Therefore, I am not sure how one is expected to use this guide to harvest "wild" varieties safely. The recipes are clear and the layout is pleasing. There are several good main dish recipes, like "Mushroom and Onion Pie" and "Jumbo Shrimp with Mushrooms". The book is rather heavy on salad recipes, "Mushroom and Blue Cheese Salad", "Broccoli and Mushroom Salad", "Mushroom Salad", etc. etc. etc. If you discount all of the similar salad recipes, there are far fewer than the advertised number of mushroom recipes in this book. I don't think this is a book I would pay more than a few dollars for.
