More About the Author

I'm Texas born, and have lived here my entire life. The history of this great state has always intrigued me, and that's why all of my stories are based in Texas. I think my past experiences gave me insight into what I write about - I've lived in small towns and on farms, and spent many a summer on ranches where my grandfather worked. Growing up, horses and history were two of my passions, and living away from cities nurtured my creative side.

I've been interested in books and storytelling since I was a child. One of my favorite memories is sitting by my grandfather and listening to him tell stories about working in the oil fields and his life on a ranch. When I was a bit older, I would rewrite the endings to television shows, or come up with my own "episodes" altogether. Little did I know that my imagination would one day lead me to where I am now.

I've written eight books in the Lex & Amanda series:
DESTINY'S BRIDGE (2002)
FAITH'S CROSSING (2002)
HOPE'S PATH (2001/2003)
LOVE'S JOURNEY (2001/2006)
STRENGTH OF THE HEART (2002/2007)
THE WAY THINGS SHOULD BE (2004)
TO HOLD FOREVER (2008)
TRUST OUR TOMORROWS (2012)

There are also four stand-alone romances:
SOMETHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR (2002)
DIVING INTO THE TURN (2006)
PIPERTON (2009)
HEART'S RESOLVE (2012)

All of my books are published through Regal Crest Enterprises (www.regalcrest.biz). More information can be found on my website (www.CarrieLCarr.com).

2.0 out of 5 stars trite and dull, May 17, 2003
This review is from: Hope's Path (Paperback)
While the characters are charming, the plot is over the top. What really bugged me was the writing, especially the constant referal to the lovers as 'friends'. Not to mention the never ending 'honey' and 'sweetie'. The overdone plot would be forgiveable if the writing were not so agravating. I did read this out of sequence, so I may have been more appreciative of the characters if I'd read them in order, but regardless the writing is annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner, to be sure, November 16, 2001

Carrie has done it again with Hope's Path. Not every story can sustain a sequel. Carrie has proven that the story of Lex and Amanda can, does and always will because those of us who read Destiny's Crossing will never tire of the tale.
This is well written, entirely believable and moving. I could not put it down and hurried to find the next sequel almost before turning the final page of this one.
Carrie, my friend, all I can say is you have another winner, to be sure.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much soap opera, October 21, 2001

Once again, Carr has the basis for a good story and ruins it with simplistic, repetitive language, plus you have to suspend your belief in the normal to accept this. These women would have to have the recuperative powers of Superman to survive the lives in this book and the one before it. How many times can someone be hit over the head, break ribs, break and sprain limbs and be poisoned and recover the next day? And their family members are unbelieveable. Based on these books (Destiny's Crossing is the first), why would any lesbian be afraid to come out to her family? To these people, having a lesbian lover is no problem at all as long as they love each other. Yeah, right. Lex meets the grandfather she's been estranged from for twenty-five years and, when he meets Amanda, in the next breath, all he has to do is adjust to the relationship. Lex and Amanda are two likeable characters, but I wouldn't want to be their insurance provider. And one could only hope that, in the real world, lesbians would find family members, friends and hospital staffs so willing to give them so much support. If you want to read a good story that suspends reality and never delivers a love scene more explicit than to say Lex kissed Amanda in a "sensitive spot", this is the book for you.
