Product Description

For over thirty years Hopkins has shaped the winter snow and ice tools category. The wide blades on our ice scrapers clear away frost with fewer strokes and less effort, and the powerful ice chippers break up the thickest ice of the season. Our snowbrooms are capable of pushing the wettest, deepest snow from your entire vehicle.

Customer Reviews

Best snow brush/ scraper.
Lhumm
It is easy to twist loose to extend the handle, and locks tightly.
Sandra L. Warner
It appears to be well made, not heavy.

The metal handle is nice and the extending ability is nice, but the cheap buggers made the threaded head that attaches the tool handle to the plastic head out of hollow plastic and it broke the second time I was using it. Its so thin it is bound to break, thanks for saving 1 penny in plastic and making this tool useless.

This is one of my most-hated snow/ice removal tools for vehicles that I've used.

PROS:
* Telescoping handle for hard-to-reach areas
* Handle grip prevents losing... well... your grip
* Horizontal brush design allows for pushing motion for more efficient removal of snow
* Horizontal brush can push larger amounts snow, easier than a vertical design

CONS:
* "T" shape can be unwieldy and top-heavy, harder to stow away
* Horizontal scraper is inefficient on any curved glass surfaces and seems to have no good use
* Small scraper is harder to use because of the blocky shape on the opposite end
* Small scraper is of poor design: breaks easier than most other shapes and tends to scrape inconsistently

As a lifelong Alaskan who has seen her share of winter snow removal tools, this is one of dozens I've used that have quickly found their way to the discard pile. Personally, if I need to remove large amounts of snow from my car I use a household broom. If I'm out and about or have a smaller amount of snow to remove from my car, I use the type of scraper that has the bristles laid out vertically along the handle which is easier to use in a sweeping motion, rather than a "pool cue" motion this scraper requires. The vertical-bristle type are also much easier to stow away.

Don't even get me started on the Hopkins scraper design; the plastic is inefficient at separating ice from glass unless your car is super heated on the inside. Most plastic scrapers scrape from the outer surface-down to the glass, basically "eroding" away the frost and ice on the glass.

I tapped the brush head slightly to dislodge the snow from the brush before putting it back into the car the first time I used it. And I mean I BARELY tapped. The plastic brush pivot snapped in two! Going to get my $$$ back!

I got two for $12.94 including Amazon Prime shipping. At the price I paid, it is probably worth 4 stars. But at nearly $10 for one now, I don't think so. The squeegee blade on both of my snowbroom was loose and was sliding off. I removed it, spread a bit of Goop glue and now they're good as new. But I shouldn't have had to fix it. You can get better and the same price at your local Samsclub.

Purchased two(2) of these snow brooms during the recent northeast blizzard and find them to work really well. Both my wife and I have suvs and the extension allows for easy access to the roof area which must be free of snow (by law ) in NJ before you can drive on the road.

The brush part of this broom is not in a fixed position, it can slide side to side. It did that on my brand new vehicle, and it left a piece of plastic to scrape the car. Do your car a favor and DO NOT buy this!

Have used this snowbroom 4 times in the last two weeks for all the snow we're having in NJ. Yesterday's storm dumped at least 14 inches and this broom worked fine. Keep in mind, be careful pushing the snow or it might bend if extended to its full length.

So my father got one of these a few years ago, but he retired, and with the snopocalypse in new england this season, I borrowed it from his truck to get to my new job.
PROS:
It works pretty well.
The extension has never slipped once and I have pushed some deep snow off my truck
The squeegee is really nice for that light, barley there ice
It can move a good deal of snow pretty quick
The one grip is really nice.
CONS:
as others have stated, the the small scraper is kind of hard to manage with the long handle behind it.
I wish the bristles were stiffer. i use this to clean snow off my truck, and even with it being a late 80's design mostly boxy and flat) this struggles and i have to work it sometimes.
I WISH THERE WAS A SECOND GRIP. this is a STEEL pole, and I leave it in my truck. if it had a second foam grip under the twist lock, i would love this thing 100% more.
it's BIG

all in all, it's a pretty nice piece of kit, but when i say it's big, i own a Club cab truck, and if i forget to collapse it back down, it will not fit across the back seats. not a big deal though unless you have a smart car though.
