5.0 out of 5 stars Installed for 2001 Infiniti Qx4, April 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hopkins Plug-In Simple 43565 T Connector Wiring Kit For Nissan Pathfinder '96-03; Altima, '96-01 / Infiniti QX4, '96-03 (Misc.)
Like my title says, I installed this for a 2001 Qx4. The install itself was not all that bad, but just time-consuming and you need to be patient, especially when trying to route the wires and removing any interior paneling. I installed my by routing the wire up through the sunroof-rear water drain hose. You can find the outlet at the driver-side rear, just under the rear-lamp assembly. The passenger side wiring when under the carpet all the way to the other side rear-lamp assembly. That's where the patience comes in. I had to remove the driver-side and passenger side rear interior panels. Take your time doing this to avoid losing any clips/snap-clips.

I haven't tested the durability yet - I literally just installed this earlier today.
I can only "guess" the functionality works. I also haven't tested that the blinkers and brakes work yet - i need a towing-light setup first, which is coming soon, but so simple, that I'm confident that it should work when I plug it in. I merely tested that my rear lights still function as far as blinker, brakes, and driving lights. I'll assume that the functionality will transfer to the trailer/tow-lights when I get a chance in using them. I suppose most of this all relies on that little "control box" or whatever the comes with the kit. I hope this works when I plug in my tow-lights :) this would be the only thing that messes anything up.

I guess what I can do is at least hook up a voltmeter to the 4-pin connector and see if I get any power to those pins to power the tow-lights. But it is late, and I'll have to do that part another day.
But, like I said, the install is relatively easy. I don't have to splice, cut, or solder into any wires - this cuts down time and allows me to focus on wire routing.
The quality of the wires seem good. Not the time that would snap and break over time.
The 4-pin connector looks durable enough. I don't plan to tow any big stuff, so trailers w/ brakes are unlikely to be hitched up to my rig. I'm planning to use my hitch/hitch wiring to tow my motorcycle, and in urgent situations a trailer to move things (like moving from one address to another or bringing home those home appliances/electronics). I also plan to put a cargo-carrier on the hitch, which may or may-not require tow-lights.

Nonetheless, I grade this a 5/5. So far, i haven't had any problems with this, so far as install goes and quality. Functional tests soon to follow.
