About the Author

Gerard Manley Hopkins is one of the most important English-language poets of the past two centuries. His work went unpublished during his lifetime and was written primarily as a form of spiritual practice. His friend and fellow poet Robert Bridges first introduced these remarkable poems to a wide audience in a 1918 edition.

Rev. Thomas Ryan, CSP, is a Catholic priest and Kripalu Yoga teacher. He coordinates ecumenical and interreligious affairs for the Paulist community in the U.S. and Canada. His books include Prayer of Heart and Body: Meditation and Yoga as a Christian Spiritual Practice and Disciplines for Christian Living: Interfaith Perspectives. He lives in New York City.

Francis (Frank) McAloon is Assistant Professor of Spirituality at the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley. He's a Hopkins scholar and loves teaching Christian spirituality and Hopkins. One of the courses he teaches is: Prayers, Poetry, and Hopkins.
