This review is from: Hopper Hunts for Spring (Paperback)
This is truly a delightful book. The story is simple
enough for even the youngest listener. I put this book
in my daughter's Easter basket this past Spring when
she was 20 months old. She still brings it to me to
read to her and is excited each and everytime it is
read. The watercolor pictures are excellent!
Anxious to read more books from this author.

This review is from: Hopper Hunts for Spring (Paperback)
This is another one of Marcus Pfister's Hopper adventures. Marcus Pfister is multitalented as a writer, illustrator, and graphic designer, creating these stories from his home in Berne Switzerland. In this selection, once again, we meet the young Arctic Hare and his Mother. When Hopper's Mother tells him that spring is coming, Hopper decides that this must be a new friend; he doesn't yet know that Spring is a season, a time of year.
As Hopper ventures out into the forest, he encounters several animals in their caves or earth tunnels. All he can think about is having someone new to play with. Wherever he goes, he calls out thinking that Spring is nearby; instead he meets some animal or creature with whom he converses; each, in turn replies that he is not Spring, and each explains what he or she is doing in the forest. As he travels, he meets one animal after another and carries on simple and lovable conversations. A small child will enjoy the conversations between Hopper and each of his new found friends. Finally, he comes home, with the help of one of the animals; his Mother softens the disappointment and explains what having a new friend means, and what spring really is.
The illustrations are soft and appealing; a young child will enjoy the delicate illustrations and the warm conversation. Soon, a new adventure of Hopper will be written.
