The classics never die!. My family has been using Hoppe's since the 1960's. It works and works well. And while it may sound odd, I even like the smell. It reminds me of spending time with my Dad in my younger days.

I been using Hoppe's since the fifties and I owned many handguns and rifles/shotguns.
There are many cleaning products out there and I'm sure most are good cleaners.
Hoppe's has been cleaning the grim, carbon from these guns without failure for years.
Ya, I like the smell.. but I really like the great job this old cleaner does on my guns.
You can't go wrong with Hoppe's. buy it.

It works! No sense buying the small bottles because it doesn't spoil. I replaced the cap on mine with a sprayer so that I don't have to put patches into the bottle.

I have been using this since I was eight years old. Downside its very toxic and costic. It will melt some plastics, and its messy and very smelly.
My Dad used this in WWII and we always had a jar of it around, with the warning don't get it in your mouth, your eyes, and keep away from any flames, and yes that means the hot waster heater and furnace.
Yes its highly flammable. I recently kept a bottle in my gun range bag, and that was a mistake. The bottles once opened can and will leak all over everything, ruining most things it touches.
Stored properly... this is great stuff and nothing breaks down foulness and gunk like number 9. Its the classic and it always works. Not great on some plastics and polymers so be very careful. For the most part break free has taken its place unless something is really a mess, then its back to the old stand by of Hoppes. I sometimes wear surgical gloves so my hands don't smell like hoppes, but it eats through them. Need to find some gloves that can stand up to it.
Nothing cleans a bore like this though.

What can be said about Hoppes #9. It's been used by gunowners for years and years. I grew up on the smell of this, and if I could get away with it, I'd use it as after shave too. Cleans bores, and parts as good as any out there, as far as powder, and it's residue. You might want another accessory type for copper residue. I've used it since a kid, and still go for it, as I suspect 99% of gunowners do, or at least have some or had some. Until something proves itself vastly superior, I'll be loyal to Hoppes #9

This is the only gun cleaning solvent I have used for nearly 50 years. Why change now? It works great! And for all of you familiar with its aroma.....A dab behind each ear drives the ladies crazy!

Does a good job for a reasonable price. If you have guns to clean then you probably need this. 1 more Word needed
